John Black is a 2026 2B/SS/OF with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Rock Hill, SC who attends Northwestern. Medium current frame with wiry strength and plenty of room to add muscle over time. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.27 seconds. Primary position IF, playing nice and low in his base and creating good angles on his reps. Showed solid mobility overall, especially laterally to his glove side. Clean. arm path showing carry and accuracy with throws across the diamond up to 77 mph. Works behind the ball and his hands work smoothly through the ball. RHH working from a wide and even stance, getting into his base well. High handset bit out front and very quiet pre-pitch mechanics. Emerging strength at impact with solid line drive stroke as he worked the middle of the field. Sustainable approach that will really play over time with added size and strength. Tremendous student as well.
