2023 WWBA Underclass Workout Showcase (Sept 27)
Manny Montalvo Jr is a 2027 C/OF, IF with a 5-7 120 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends Lake Nona. Young, athletic frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout moving forward with added strength. Ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, replaces feet well coming out of crouch and gains some ground with footwork, shorter release from ear, arm strength will continue to develop, nice tools to build upon moving forward, 2.09 best pop time, repeats actions. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, longer arm action through the back and pulls it down well to create some whip, longer release, over-the-top release and ball comes out cleanly, shows accuracy to the intended base . Right-handed hitter, begins with an even base and a high hand set and lower back elbow, utilizes a simple leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Gathers weight on backside, contact oriented approach with subtle shift through lower half. Best contact to the middle of the field, slight uphill plane to path through the zone, creates some extension out front in swing. Good student.
