Gavin Porch is a 2023 OF/2B, SS with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Lakewood, CA who attends Los Alamitos. A lean and wiry athletic frame. Ran well with a 6.92 60-yard dash. Showed a quick first step in the outfield with momentum to and through the baseball with sound fundamental footwork, a clean transition to throw and slightly above average arm strength with consistent accuracy throwing to bases. In the infield he showed softer hands fielding out front, some ability to move and make plays laterally, a quick transfer and a solid average throwing arm. An open stance at the plate with quick hands, a lofted bat path and some feel for the barrel at the plate. Did a nice job of using the whole field. On the mound showed tall and fall mechanics with a short stride down the mound. Hides the baseball well with shorter arm action and a three-quarter arm slot. Throws a lot of strikes with a low 70's fastball that has arm side run to it and a change up with fading action in the mid 60's. Athlete that can repeat a delivery and will throw plenty of strikes. Good student.
