2024 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Sat.)
Van Willner is a 2025 RHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Merion Station, PA who attends Lower Merion. Works from a larger frame with squared shoulders and strength present throughout. Primary right-handed pitcher, starts from the first base side of the rubber and utilizes an abbreviated wind-up delivery. The hands stay around the chest throughout, leg lifts just above the belt before separating into a shorter slightly offline arm path. Releases from a low three-quarters slot. Displayed athletic movements down the slope with plenty of quickness in the hips and arm, repeats the operation well. Fastball showed tons of life out of the hand with natural arm-side run, filled up the outer-third of the strike zone and topped it out at 90 mph with spin up to 2300 rpm. Changeup showed big fade down in the zone replicating the heater effectively. Slider showed sharpness and late bite, located it well and induced several uncomfortable swings and misses with it. Displayed tons of confidence and composure on the mound. Excellent student. Named to the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Sat.) Top Prospect List.
