Seth Batty is a 2009 SS/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Fresno, CA who attends Buchanan HS. He has a lean and somewhat wiry athletic build. Batty is a good all-around player who will keep gaining on some of his more physically advanced peers. We liked him as a baseball player and do not want to pigeon-hole him to a specific position quite yet. Offensively he is a line drive hitter with an whole field hitting approach. Batty has a quick bat and an easy, flat swing. His hands work really well in his swing. Defensivley we liked him best in the outfield where his arm is strong and accurate, with a quick release. He moves athletically to the ball. In the infield Batty played 2nd and did a nice job. He plays hard and makes plays. On the mound Batty's fastball was 82-84 mph with some arm side life and sink. His arm is quick and loose. More velocity will come with strength. Batty spins the curveball well too. He tends to rush a bit in his delivery but his stuff is good. Batty is an excellent student with a future at the D1 level. Recruit him as a baseball player and let time tell where he ends up on the field.
