Coulson Buchanan is a 2021 RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Sugar Hill, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Righthanded pitcher, athleticism plays on the mound, lands closed with strike foot and works across body but maintains mechanics; fast arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point. Generates plane to fastball, topped out at 88 mph, mostly true in life, did a nice job of working on top of the ball. Slider is a standout secondary pitch, late bite with power and two-plane shape up to 78 mph, shows the ability to consistently miss bats with the pitch and elicit weak contact. Straight changeup but maintains arm speed and release point on it up to 76 mph; shows a bigger variation of the breaking ball with 12-6 shape and depth up to 74 mph. Very good student.
