Jared Lyons is a 2018 SS/RHP, 2B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Springfield, VA who attends West Springfield High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, high waist with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front with hands that play, wide base fielding, quick footwork on the charge, fluid and easy turns on the bag, shows arm strength across the diamond, gets on top of throws. Also pitched, begins with a high leg lift up above belt, steady and methodical tempo to delivery and strides on line down the mound; full arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Quick arm and generates plane on fastball, topped out at 87 mph, mostly true in life and works over front side, projects with additional lower half. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with depth and late bite down in the zone up to 74 mph; maintains arm speed and release point on changeup up to 76 mph with short fading life down in the zone. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a square stance; high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Longer stride moving into contact, shows fluidity to swing path and creates contact out front. Shows a consistent feel for the barrel and works all fields with barrel skills and back spin, ball shows jump and uses lower half well to shift through point of contact. Shows nice two-way potential.
