Summer ball is about to be in full swing down in Southwest Florida, as more than 100 teams gear up for the East Memorial Day Classic from May 24-27.

15U, 16U and 17U teams will be stepping up to the plate this weekend across many different high schools, parks and even the backfields of the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox spring training facilities.

While there are many compelling names to watch, right-handed pitcher Landon Green (775165) tops the list as the highest-ranked player coming into the weekend. The No. 1 right-handed pitcher in the Class of 2027 will be playing with USA Prime Tampa Scout alongside his teammate, No. 49 Samir Mohammed (754850).

Green and Mohammed will go up against shortstop Robert “RJ” Bencosme (623503), who is playing up with the 303 Twins Scout Team. Bencosme is ranked No. 76 overall and is the No. 15 shortstop in the class of 2028.

This exciting matchup will get going at 6:15 p.m. on Friday in the Stadium of Terry Park.

Bencosme isn’t the only player playing up this weekend. Shortstop Dantel Ramirez (1232688), No. 87 in the Class of 2028, will be in the dugout with the 16U PSL Paulies. Ramirez’s first game will be on Saturday at 8 a.m. versus Florida Burn 2026 Scout.

You’ll also want to keep an eye on right-handed pitcher and Texas commit Mills Carrillo (750662) in the 16U division. The No. 14 pitcher in the nation for the Class of 2026 will be fun to watch, since he was already touching 90 on the mound back in 2022. Carrillo will play with CBU 2026 United Team Merrill this weekend, with the first game in Terry Park on Clemente Field on Saturday at 8 a.m.

A few teams stick out in the 17U division with notable college commitments, specifically TBT FTB Phillies Scout Team American with players signed to Georgia, Florida State, Miami, and more. They’ll play their first game on Friday at South High School at 6:15 p.m.
