13u, 14u World Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2

Right-hander Chase Cotton (2027, Lincoln, Calif.) was quickly called out of the bullpen by the ZT Prospects National coaching staff in their opening round of the playoffs after falling behind early and the young California native immediately went to work and took care of business to help his team advance to the next round. Younger for the grade and nearly 13u eligible for the upcoming season, Cotton came out pumping the strike zone early and often while maintaining his stuff, living comfortably in the upper-70s throughout while topping out at 81 mph. Cotton showed nice present arm speed and consistently worked on top of the ball, generating downhill plane with subtle life to his arm side, incorporating his stronger 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame into his operation while showing lots of comfort in spinning the baseball. Over his 5 innings of work Cotton managed to strikeout 6 though his feel for spin was just as pertinent to his success as the fastball and command were. Cotton showed both a curveball and slider with both pitches showing distinct shape as the former worked in the low-60s with 11-5 shape and depth while the slider was tighter in spin and life through the zone while living in the upper-60s with the offering.
