Ethan Wesloski (2022, McKinney, Texas) has been on a tear at the plate this week hitting near .500 with six extra-base hits, three of which have very impressively gone for home runs. He’s a very physical 6-foot-2, 225-pound catcher and he’s caught a lot this week showing solid actions and the ability to both handle a variety of arms and patrol the run game. The bat however has been what has stood out as he’s crushed the baseball all week long with undoubtedly big-time exit velocities on a number of his hits. It’s a fairly simple but very strong swing as he gets the barrel out easily and consistently with slight natural lift to the path that allows him to create back spin and drive the ball well to the middle of the field. While a power profile normally comes with swing-and-miss, he’s seen the ball well all week and has been putting it in play at a high rate even when hits weren’t falling.
