West Coast Qualifier Scout Notes: Day 1

Nic Abraham (2024, Elk Grove, Calif.) started the first game for NorCal U 2024 and showed the skills to be a front end starting pitcher once at full maturity. Abraham cruised through his four-inning outing showing three strong pitches including a changeup that has the potential to be a well-above average pitch. The changeup (68-70 MPH) dove out of the fastball path with strong arm speed and his feel to throw it whenever he wanted to kept hitters swinging through it and hitting weak ground balls. The fastball (77-81, T82 MPH) worked with arm-side run on both sides of the plate and as he fills the frame, the velocity should make easy jumps. Add in a slider (69-72 MPH) that had short vertical depth and ability to get swings and the arrow for Abraham is pointing upwards. Oregon commit.
