ATLANTA, Ga. -- As the calendar turns to June and the weather warms, so will Perfect Game’s Southeast competition schedule. The summer tournament slate continues this week when the 12th annual Southeast Elite Championship kicks off on Thursday, June 3 in the metro Atlanta area.

With 353 total enlisted teams, 40 more compared to last weekend’s Southeast Memorial Day Classic, over the next four days, this tournament is set to headline the weekend as the nation’s single largest conglomeration of youth baseball talent.

The Southeast Elite Championship features competition among 11 age groups (9u-18u), and is centered at Perfect Game’s East Cobb Complex and its surrounding ballparks. The 15u, 16u and 17u age divisions all list 50 or more teams set to battle for the title, and eight of the total 11 age groups contain at least 24 teams.

As per any core Perfect Game event, top prospects will be in abundance, rostered on some of the country's top travel teams from Georgia to California.

Standout 18u talent includes right-handed pitcher Caleb Longerwell (UCF commit), third baseman Glenn Green (Georgia commit) and right-hander Tyler Kennedy (Pittsburgh commit). All three of these players are ranked in the top-300 players of the class of 2021.

The 17u division, as always, boasts a robust set of players. The East Cobb Astros hold the tournament roster with the highest-ranked players. Righty Dylan Lesko (Vanderbilt commit) and shortstop Termarr Johnson (uncommitted) are listed on East Cobb’s active roster, and are also both in the top-five players of the 2022 class, nationally. Georgia Bombers 17u Marucci’s outfielder Riley Stanford (Georgia Tech commit) and 5 Star National 17u Black’s third baseman Sal Stewart (Vanderbilt commit) round out the weekend’s four highest-ranked players.

As the tournaments largest age division (60 total teams), 17u will showcase squads from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Alabama. However, players within those teams span the entire continental U.S.

5 Star National holds two of the 16u tournament’s top-three ranked athletes. Third baseman Cam Collier (Louisville commit) and right-hander James Hays (Georgia commit) will both dawn the black and gold of 5 Star National this weekend. Other highly-touted 16u prospects rostered for this weekend are Rawlings SE M.A.D. Mavericks’ righty Ethan Robinson (Vanderbilt commit) and Georgia jackets 16u National’s Dylan Lonergan (uncommitted).

Pool play for the upperclass ages will begin Thursday, June 3 and run through Saturday, June 5. Bracket play commences with a playoff first round and quarterfinals scheduled for Sunday, followed by the tournament’s semifinals and championship matchups on Monday.

The Southeast Elite Championship is the first of five Perfect Game events in June in Georgia that will feature both underclass and upperclass competition. And as high school baseball around the country comes to an end, more teams with an even larger swath of players are sure to descend upon East Cobb for future Perfect Game tournaments. Looming later in June is the 18u WWBA National Championship, also centered around Atlanta.
