Chaning Freeland is a 2029 RHP/3B/IF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Medina, TN who attends South Gibson. High-waisted, long levered frame with some present strength and room to add more as he matures. Recorded a 8.22 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a coiled leg lift and counter-rotation of his upper-half into balance. Deceptive movements out to foot strike, tough at-bat for right-handed hitters. Fastball worked in the low-70s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 74 mph in this look. Flashed developing breaking ball with varying spin profile, some horizontal action and minimal depth to it. Will continue to improve with additional velocity and mechanical refinements. Secondary third baseman with a developing defensive skill set. Used deliberate footwork throughout, showed some lateral range and bends slightly at the waist to field. Produced accurate throws up to 71 mph across the diamond during drills. Took part in the outfield portion of the workout as well, where he used similar deliberate footwork to field off to the side and maintains some momentum into release. Elongated process, produced throws up to 74 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open base with a pre-set high hand start and small inward stride into launch. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics and showed some present hand speed. Developing feel for the barrel with whole field approach and best impact to the pullside when on-time. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
