Arizona High School Playoff Notebook

Gavin Smith (2024, Basha HS, AZ) put together a monster season for Basha and his high-level offensive performance continued into the playoffs where he helped carry them to a deep run. On the season he ended up slashing .440/.504/.879 which included 12 HRs and 14BB/10K. The Harvard commit SS proved to be one of the better power bats in AZ with a relatively simple swing. He stands tall and relaxed in his stance where he creates some easy/early rhythm with a toe tap trigger. The hands load the bat into a more upright launch, and he turns the barrel extremely well on an uphill path that gives him some natural loft to the swing. The swing shows some innate barrel feel and above avg. bat speed with impact that played to all fields as I saw him go deep to right center on a high fastball
