KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Morning Session
Ashlynn McConnell is a 5'2, class of 2026 C/SS from Blue Springs, MO who attends Blue Springs South HS. Ashlynn is a young, up and coming player who shows a sound fundamental ability at two positions. She also has a solid approach to her offensive game that should allow her game to continue to grow. She ran a commendable 3.39 20-yad dash, which is plus average for her age group. She also posted a solid 1.26 5-yard burst time. A primary catcher, Ashlynn shows a impressive approach to this all important position. She presents a low profile at the ready and shows sound easy movement to receive. Her hands are soft and sure. She throws from her knees and her 51-mph tosses to 2B are firm, hold their plane, and are highly accurate. Her 2.22 pop time is advanced for her age group. Ashlynn also took a turn on the infield, and although not her primary spot, she showed solid ability here. She positions routinely. Her glove plays well and her 50-mph throws show carry and are consistently accurate. At the plate, this RHH shows a fine understanding of the short game and is an accomplished bunter. She starts in an even, balanced stance. She uses a split grip and has a more inside-out path. She has a noticeably quick operation. She SOUNDS like a hitter. Plus gap-to-gap pop. She shows a particular ability to drive pitches down in the zone. As she matures, power will come. Sound approach. Ashlynn has the right idea about all that she does on the field. Her defensive game, especially behind the plate is solid. She can swing the bat with authority. She seemingly always has positive body language and her disposition says that softball is very important to her. Big, bright, promising future for this young player.
