KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Amber Dougherty is a 5'6, class of 2024, C/2B, SS, OF, UT from Carlisle, IA who attends Carlisle HS. Amber is a young, up and coming, talented player whose skill level should project to the next level with continued fundamental development. She ran a highly impressive 3.18 20-yard dash, advanced for any age group, but especially commendable for a 2024 grad. Her 1.11 5-yard split was also sound. A primary catcher, Amber is a standout with the gear on. She is a smooth and comfortable receiver. She has excellent feet, a quick transition, and a solid arm action. Her quick trigger gets her 51-mph throws on their way in a hurry. Her 1.84 pop time is elite and among the very best in the event. Excellent prospect behind the plate. Amber also took a turn in the outfield. Her footwork is sound and she positions well. She gets to the ball well and her glove work is routine. She transitions with ease and her powerful 59-mph throws are firm and consistently find their target. Solid effort. At the plate, the LHH is a sound bunter. She carries a contact first mentality to the plate and it works well for her. She has a flatter path and is short and quick to contact. She gets her barrel on course and through contact well, She shows some gap-to-gap pop and is more of a line driver than a pure power hitter, although there is a little emerging power presently and that could develop. Amber has a lot of upside promise. Her current ability level projects well. She, with continued fundamental development and attention to detail, as well as a dedicated regimen in the weight room to add strength, has a real chance to play at the college level. Great, positive disposition. Obvious passion for the game. Bright future!

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
