KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Abigail Jones is a 5'3, class of 2023 SS/UT from Muscatine, IA who attends Muscatine HS. Abigail is a smooth, consistent, talented upper class player who has a sound fundamental base and a skill set that can play well at the next level. She ran a 3.40 20-yard dash with a 1.15 5-yard split. A primary infielder, Abigail's quick feet and ability to read the ball off the bat. allows her to routinely position. Her glovework is smooth and sure. She has a quick transition and her 55-mph throws are firm and true. Projectable ability on the dirt. Abigail also took a turn in the outfield and her athleticism really plays well on the grass. She is quick and certain to position. She plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. Her glove is consistent and she transitions well. Her powerful 57-mph throws are firm and highly accurate. Solid defensive effort at two spots. At the plate, this switch hitter has an array of ability. From the right side, she has a wider and more open base and has a plus feel for timing. She gets her barrel to and through contact well. Solid approach. On base, contact first, mentality. A little bit of emerging power. From the left side, her hit tool and contact rate are perhaps a tad better. Slapper with an idea. Obviously she sacrifices any thoughts of power, but she may actually play to her ability better on this side. Good mix of operations. Abigail has a real chance over the course of her last two HS and travel ball years to truly elevate her game. She has the obvious skill and appears to be in tune with her game. Her effort level is commendable! There is a lot of promise to her game moving forward!

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
