Pearland, TX- It was an incredible weekend for softball in Pearland, Texas as 20 teams converged to compete. Through Saturday's heat and Sunday's wind, these teams played hard from beginning to end and our scouts were treated with some quality ball. The top team of the weekend was the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 who finished their weekend as the only undefeated team, going 8-0. Below we highlight some of the notable players who were solid contributors on the weekend.
Lyla Raymond (2030, Houston, TX) of the Heat Elite 2k12 was a consistent force at the plate for her squad. This left-handed slapper showed great versatility at the plate, spraying the field and hitting the ball in all directions. She did a great job utilizing a power slap with runners in scoring position. Lyla showed great barrel awareness and command with her slapping, finding every hole on defense, and exploiting it. She holds her line well in her crossover step, and although she rotates quite a bit with her upper body on the swing, she is very good at covering the outside corner and has the ability to go 5/6 hole and left side. She was a true spark plug for her team last weekend and was impressive to watch.
Avery Birkner (2029, Houston, TX) of the TX Eclipse 2k11 was one of the most dynamic offensive players on the weekend. She was a constant force at the plate for her team, racking up 13 RBI’s and finishing the weekend with a .555 batting average. This dynamic lefty showed off her barrel pop, belting four doubles, two triples, and two homeruns. She was also a key factor in creating chaos on the bases with five stolen bases by the end of the tournament. She reached base in every one of the TX Eclipse’s nine games and was a highlight reel of offensive output. She has great power to her pull side but also showed the ability to drive the ball back up the middle. She keeps her barrel behind the ball well instead of wrapping around it. She swings from a wide and strong base and creates a tremendous amount of barrel whip as she keeps her hands loose. She played a solid third base as well, showing off a solid arm and the ability to stay low on balls and make consistent plays.
Chloe Young (2029, Huntsville, TX) of the Triple Threat 2k11 Zepeda played lights out last weekend in Pearland. She was super productive in the box, tallying 13 hits with two doubles and a triple. She finished her tournament with a .565 batting average and drove in five runs for her squad as well as scoring five times. Chloe has a short and compact swing that packs a punch. She shows a great ability to drive the ball to all fields and generates a good amount of barrel speed to create pop. Defensively, she held it down in center field, getting quick first steps and even making an outstanding diving catch. She showed good arm strength and good range. Overall, she is athletic and carries a confidence with her on the field.
Reagan Shaw (2029, Klein, TX) of the Triple Threat 2k11 Zepeda was a consistent force at the plate last weekend. She finished her weekend with a .500 batting average, tallying 11 hits. She drove a double and had four RBI’s for her squad and scored three times. This right-handed hitter has a balanced stance and a nice, efficient load. She did a great job firing her back side, providing solid barrel pop. One thing we really liked about her was how she exploded her barrel through extension and showed her ability to drive the ball to all fields.
Leilani Villegas (2030, Houston, TX) of the TX Eclipse 2k11 was absolutely incredible over the entire tournament. She was constantly putting together great at-bats and coming through for her team no matter the situation. She had great confidence and poise in pressure situations. She has an athletic stance and fires from a high knee kick. She generates a great about of barrel whip and she showed solid power to all fields. In her 31 plate appearances she tallied 14 hits, seven doubles, and two bombs. She walked eight times and scored an incredible 16 times for her team. Her OPS was off the charts at 2.028 and the most impressive stat on the weekend was her tournament leading 20 RBIs! The impact she had on her team’s success was tangible and she was an exciting player to watch.
Rachel Sanders (2029, Magnolia, TX) of the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 was almost unstoppable last weekend. She was the most dynamic two-way player of the tournament, showing dominance on both sides of the ball. She has a strong athletic build and her consistency at the plate was phenomenal. Offensively, she finished her weekend batting a staggering .714 with ten hits, four RBIs, and four walks. She showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields and showed good barrel awareness. In the circle she was the definition of composure and confidence. This strong right-handed pitcher had a strong presence on the mound and was a standout in her team’s success. Inn 16.1 innings pitched, she struck out an incredible 28 batters while only walking three. She has a really good curve ball that is heavy with tight spin. It showed great late break and was a huge factor in her success on the weekend. Overall, Rachel was an impact player from beginning to end for her American Freedom team.
Ryleigh Durocher (2029, Spring, TX) of the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 was a huge contributing force on the mound who helped her team to a perfect 8-0 weekend. In 15 innings pitched, she was impressive with 25 strikeouts and only gave up one earned run. Her 0.467 ERA was by far the most dominant in the tournament. With a strong combination of curveball and rise ball, she was supremely effective at keeping batters off-balance and getting them to chase. She attacked the zone well and showed a steady presence on the mound. She has an athletic pitching motion, driving off the mound well and finishing with a short, tight snap.
Charlotte Easley (2029, Spring, TX) of the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 was a dynamic spark for her team’s offense in Pearland last weekend. This left-handed slapper was incredibly effective at finding ways on base and picking apart defensive weaknesses. She showed a quick first step out of the box after contact and great footspeed to beat out infield hits. She finished her weekend with a .500 batting average and stole five bases for her team. Charlotte was the epitome of a table setter all weekend and was a huge factor in their success.
Violet Lowe (2030, Houston, TX) of the Texas Twelve Katy 14U Maroon had an outstanding weekend both in the batter’s box and in the pitching circle. Offensively, this right-handed hitter finished with a strong .444 batting average, tallying eight hits and four RBIs for her team. She showed some pop, driving a double and a triple. She showed preference to hit the ball to her pull side. In the circle, Violet had a fantastic weekend. She threw 15 innings for her team, finishing with an impressive 1.40 ERA and showing off her deception, striking out and average of one batter per inning.

Alanis Cesar (2029, Houston, TX) of the TX Eclipse 2k11 was productive at the plate for her team last weekend, showing great consistency in the box. She finished her weekend with a .577 batting average, tallying 15 hits. She drove in four runs, walked five times, and stole six bases.
Taylor Muse (2030, Magnolia, TX) of the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 hit an impressive .450 on the weekend. She tallied nine hits and scored six times. She also flashed her speed on the bases with eight stolen bases.
Lexi Mote (2030, Magnolia, TX) of the American Freedom HTX National 2k11 finished her tournament with a .417 batting average and an OPS of 1.479. She drove two doubles and two triples and had four RBI’s. She scored seven times for her team, drew four walks and stole three bases.
Kierstyn Ruddell (2029, Houston, TX) of the Texas Eclipse 2k11 finished her weekend strong with a .458 batting average and getting 11 hits for her team. She drove in an impressive 12 runs and scored five times.
Ruby Masters (2030, Richmond, TX) of the Express Prospects 14U had a strong showing on the weekend, finishing with a .467 batting average. She belted three doubles and a triple and finished with four RBIs for her team.
Audrina Flores (2030, Spring, TX) of the Texas Peppers Gold 14U led her team with a .500 batting average. She hit two doubles and tallied five RBIs for her team. She drew three walks and scored five times for her team.
Gracelynn Thompson (2030, Spring, TX) of the Firecrackers HTX Rubio 14U had a strong showing last weekend. She finished with a .545 batting average and had a triple and four RBIs for her team.
Amelia Warren (2030, Spring, TX) of the American Freedom HTX Academy Carlson 14U had an incredible weekend, batting .611 in their eight games. Her 1.465 OPS led the team and she drove two doubles and a triple on the weekend. She tallied eight RBIs, scored seven times, and stole a team-leading five bases.
