The Perfect Game Fall Softball Schedule kicked off in a big way when 66 teams across three age groups and four competition levels played a highly-competitive five-game schedule this past weekend in Iowa City, Iowa.

14u Division

The 14U field was loaded with amazing talent and a collective group of players that will unquestionably impact the sport for the next few years. Kiran Sanford (2025, Two Rivers, Wis.) of the Wisconsin Heat and Mishicot HS was dominant throughout. The young lefty threw 15 sterling innings and struck out 20. She allowed less than a hit an inning, allowing only two walks and two earned runs, as she posted the most impressive stat line of the weekend in this highly-competitive division.

Brooklyn Marks (2025, Sandwich, Ill.) was just as impressive in the circle. The 07 Texas Glory-IL RWB RHP threw 12 solid innings, striking out 17 along the way, while only surrendering nine hits and two earned runs in helping her club post three wins on the weekend.

CIK 08s' Alexis Trueg (2026, Cedar Falls, Iowa) had a tourney of note, also. The young and gifted RHP twirled 12 solid innings, striking out 11, while only allowing five earned runs, as CIK tallied three W’s for the tourney.

Central Iowa Alliance – CIA 14U – is a group that is talented and has a collective future that shines brightly. The Johnston, Iowa-based organization went 5-0 for the tourney, scoring 44 runs, while allowing only five. Jensyn Tenpas (2025, Johnston, Iowa) had, arguably, the best tournament of any individual, regardless of playing level. The talented two-way player is a gifted hurler and shortstop. She also swings a mighty bat. The 5-foot-9, long and lean three-hole hitter, who has a mature approach at the dish, hit four home runs, each more impressive than the last. She totaled eight knocks, drove in 11 in five games, and also scored eight runs. As if her offensive exploits weren’t enough, Tenpas also threw 12 dominant innings, striking out 10 and only allowing two earned runs.

Another CIA 14U pitcher who has a bright future is Avery Veeder (2027, Johnston, Iowa). The young righty, who is only in the 7th grade, showed many in attendance that she will be a force in the circle in coming years. Avery threw seven solid innings, only allowing five hits and one earned run. Big, bright future for this top competitor.

The Iowa Nationals went 5-0 on the weekend, scoring 34 runs and allowing only six in dominating their opponents. The Nationals were paced on offense by Kari Rose (2026, West Des Moines, Iowa). She is a talented left-handed hitter who posted some gaudy numbers. The gifted hitter, who has a feel for the barrel, tallied eight knocks, which included three doubles and a triple. She drove in four, stole four bases, and crossed the pay station six total times, in one of the more impressive offensive performances of the weekend.

Pacing the Nationals in the circle and throwing an impressive and almost seamless 15 innings, was Mylie Hatfield (2026, Ankeny, Iowa). The 5-foot-8 righty is a consistent strike thrower and pitches to contact. She struck out five and only allowed four walks and one earned run in helping her team go undefeated.

Another squad that turned in an unblemished 5-0 weekend was Nebraska Gold 515. Playing out of Ankeny, Iowa, this solid team lives up to the organizational-wide image and plays the game with a sound fundamental approach. The Gold scored an impressive 29 runs on the weekend and was paced by their right-handed hitting catcher, McKaiden Wills (2026, Ankeny, Iowa). All this noticeably-gifted hitter did was tally nine hits, one of which was a home run, and drive in five runs.

Lauren Sandholm (2027, Ankeny, Iowa) could not have pitched much better than she did for Nebraska Gold 515. The young righty twirled 11 solid innings, striking out 11. She only allowed four walks and one earned run over the course of the tourney.

Finally, the Monsters 14U-Coil club out of Muscatine, Iowa posted four wins on the weekend and was led by a their gifted three-hole hitter, Lily Coil (2025, Columbus Junction, Iowa). The Columbus Community HS freshman is a strong left-handed hitter who has a consistent feel for the barrel. She totaled eight hits on the weekend, which included a tournament leading five doubles. She also scored six runs and drove in nine. Big upside future for this talented two-way player.

16u-A Division

The 16U-A division was loaded with talent and numerous players showed projectable, college-ready ability. Iowa Elite Red ran roughshod over Pool A, posting a 5-0 record, scoring 25 runs, while allowing only 10. Elizabeth Timmerman (2026, Tiffin, Iowa), playing well above her age group, showed many in attendance why her future is very bright. The 5-foot-8 RHP threw 13 almost spotless innings, striking out 10, while walking only two and allowing no earned runs. Impressive for any 16u pitcher. For a player who is only in the 7th grade, such a feat, at this level especially, is highly commendable.

Hannah Greiner (2025, Atkins, Iowa) paced the Elite Red offense, posting eight knocks for the weekend, scoring four runs, while driving home three.

Pool B was dominated by the Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Hall. This rock solid, fundamentally sound club went undefeated, scoring 32 runs, while only allowing a scant six over the entirety of the weekend. All-Star slugger Khylie Wainwright (2023, Port Byron, Ill.) was a force at the plate, collecting six knocks in four games and scoring six runs. The North Scott HS junior third baseman clubbed two homers, stole four bases, and drove in seven.

Leading the All-Stars undefeated run through the Pool B championship was RHP Saydee Plummer (2024, Burlington, Iowa). The sophomore at Burlington High is a righty with four solid pitches and a pure operation that will only enhance her college prospects. She threw six highly impressive and dominating shutout innings, striking out 11, while not allowing a walk.

Pool C was, without question, the most competitive of the 16u-A divisions. Iowa Elite Blue went 3-1-1, while the Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Black club and Alliance Select-Gullion both went 3-2.

Elite Blue’s Ella Wetjen (2023, North Liberty, Iowa) had a noteworthy tourney at the plate and in the circle. The twitchy and athletic 5-foot-6 RHP/Utility player threw 13 highly effective, almost dominant innings. She struck 16 and only walked four, allowing a single earned run over two days. At the dish, she chipped in four hits, two of which went for extra bases, scored twice, and drove in four.

Haileigh Smith (2023, North Liberty, Iowa) had a notable tournament at the plate for Elite Blue. She collected three doubles, scored five runs, stole a couple of bases, and drove in two for good measure.

One of the tournament’s most dominant pitchers was Southeast Iowa All-Star Gold-Black right-hander Ada Boysen (2024 Wapello, Iowa), The Wapello Senior HS sophomore was the picture of cool, calm, dominance. She threw nine innings during the tourney and struck out an impressive 17 batters. She didn’t allow an earned run. Big future in the circle for this poised, highly competitive pitcher.

The Alliance Select-Gullion club rode the arms of their three person pitching staff to three wins. Allison Lair (2024, West Des Moines, Iowa), a Waukee HS sophomore, tossed six innings of shutout ball, striking out 11. Ciara Heffron (2024, Dallas, Iowa), a Knoxville HS sophomore, threw a team-leading 13 innings, striking out nine, walking only one, while allowing a commendable four runs. Izzie Benge (2025, Norwalk, Iowa) threw seven innings of shutout ball, striking out four, while allowing only five hits and walking none.

Ankeny HS freshman RHP Aubrey Lensmeyer (2025, Ankeny, Iowa) had a solid weekend in the circle for the Iowa Outlaws Select 06-Andrew club. The 5-foot-5 athletic hurler threw 10 sound innings, showing plus velocity and command to both sides of the plate. She struck out 16 and didn’t walk a batter. She only allowed six hits and one earned run. Highly commendable performance by this young pitcher with projectable upside ability.

16u-B Division

On the 16u-B side, two clubs went undefeated. Eastern Iowa Select posted five wins and a tie, while Iowa Select Fastpitch tied twice and hung three W's on the board. RHP, Emily Koranda (2025, Marion, Iowa) was simply outstanding in the circle for Eastern Iowa Select. The Linn-Mar HS freshman tossed 11, almost unhittable innings. She struck out 26 for the weekend and allowed only four knocks and issued just two walks. Needless to say, she did not allow an earned run. A very high ceiling for this gifted hurler.

Addison Gralund (2025, Marion, Iowa) does a little of everything for Eastern Iowa Select. A Linn-Marr HS teammate of Koranda, Gralund pitches and plays some infield and outfield. At the plate this weekend, she collected 11 hits, two of which went for doubles. She added a triple into the mix, also. She is also a run producer, as she drove in eight. In the circle, Addie tossed 13 highly-effective innings, striking out 14. She only walked two and allowed a scant two earned runs. A lot of promise for this talented, college-ready player.

Iowa Select’s Lydia Zaruba (2024, Grimes, Iowa) can swing the bat. The left-handed hitting outfielder collected nine hits on the weekend and scored 10 runs. Among her safeties were two doubles and a triple. The speedster also stole nine bases. Big time, top-of-the-order future for this gifted player.

18u Division

The four pool championships in the 18U Division went to clubs that went undefeated on the weekend. Capturing Pool A with a perfect 5-0 record was the Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Miller club that scored 45 runs and only allowed six. Nebraska Gold-Sandknop battled through a highly-competitive Pool B, posting a 5-0 record, and outlasting a tough Eastern Iowa Barracudas-Ray (4-1) team and an equally tough Alliance Select-Blackford (3-2) nine. Dominating Pool C was a tough Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Crowder team that scored an impressive 47 runs while only allowing three, in what may have been then most complete overall performance on the weekend. Rounding out the championships and winning Pool D was Heartland Havoc, that posted a perfect 4-0 mark.

Although pitching dominated the 18s for the most part, there were a few hitters who posted some noteworthy performances. Kaylee Bunn (2024, Marion, Iowa) paced the entire tournament from the batter’s box for the Eastern Iowa Barracudas-Ray squad. The sophomore catcher at Linn-Marr HS collected nine hits, which included a double, a triple, and a home run. She scored seven and drove in an impressive nine runs.

Hailey Rosonke (2024, Eldora, Iowa) and Kylie Hamers (2023, North Liberty, Iowa) had solid at-bats for the Pool B champion, Nebraska Gold-Sandknop club. Rosonke, a sophomore at South Hardin HS, was an extra-base machine. Of her eight hits, she clubbed five doubles and a homer. She also drove in nine on the weekend. Hamers was not to be outdone by her Nebraska Gold-Sandknop teammate as she collected nine hits, which included three doubles. She also scored seven runs and drove in four.

As good as a few of the hitters were at the 18u level, pitching was truly dominant throughout the weekend. A number of the athletes who worked in the circle have promising futures at the collegiate level. Bella Nigey (2022, Bettendorf, Iowa), an uncommitted HS senior, was the tournament’s most dominant hurler. The 5-foot-10 RHP for the Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Miller threw 11 innings and only allowed eight hits, striking out 12 over two days. More impressively, Nigey only walked one and gave up but two earned runs for her undefeated club. She definitely has the goods to pitch, and pitch well, at the next level.

Powerful LHP Lauren Gustofson (2023, Ankeny, Iowa) of the Jags Select club has some big upside potential. She shows a complete arsenal, highlighted by an explosive, swing, and miss, rise ball. Gustofson only allowed four runs on the weekend and threw an impressive 17 innings showing her durability and arm strength. She struck out 11 and did not allow a walk. This college-ready arm was impressive.

Ryleigh Allgood (2023, Lisbon, Iowa), a junior at Lisbon HS, was outstanding in the circle for the Pool C champion Southeast Iowa All-Stars Gold-Crowder. The southpaw mixed and matched a complete arsenal and showed why she is a definite college prospect. Allgood threw 12 sparkling innings, striking out nine, and allowing only six hits. Most impressively, she didn’t allow an earned run.

Elizabeth Palumbo (2022, Morrison, Ill.) was truly impressive for the Pool D Champions, the Heartland Havoc. The uncommitted LHP threw seven solid innings, striking out 15 and allowing only four hits. Palumbo only surrendered two walks and gave up just one earned run.

Finally, Emily Rigdon (2023, Davenport, Iowa) powered the Pool C champs, the Southeast Iowa All-Stars-Crowder, from the circle. The Bettendorf HS junior threw a noteworthy 10 innings striking out 15 in the process. She only allowed seven hits and one earned run.

Perfect Game Softball Battle for the Belt April 18-19, 2026 Des Moines, Iowa It was a cold and very windy weekend, but the girls still came out and put in their best efforts. If you wanted the place to see some of the state’s top talent, this was the tournament to be at. The 18u division was quite the slugfest! The Ankeny Centennial 18U -Kennedy team took down a tough Iowa Alliance Select-Benge team in the championship. Both teams had double digit homeruns on the weekend. In the 16u division the Iowa Aries CE Fire Black took control of the game from the start and never let up on the gas, taking down a solid Alliance Select- Harper team. 18U Division Kori Lincicum (2026 Ankeny, IA) of the Centennial Jaguars- Kennedy and Drake Bulldog softball commit was the weekends MVP Pitcher. Another few weeks have wrapped up this high school season as we’re flying through the spring and most southern states are starting playoffs right around the corner. With the end of the regular season, we have another National Top 50 update to bring to you, along with this will be the start of the weekly editions of our National Top 50. We have a change at the top of the rankings as Venice (FL) takes over the top spot after just dominating their competition in the state of Florida this year. Orange Lutheran (CA) drops one spot to No. 2 after dropping a series but still holds firm at No. 2 in the country.
