Batting Practice Highlights Part 1
12/28/2016 12:00:00 AM
Josiah Miller (2019 SS, Tallahassee, FL) is a switch-hitter who really stood out from the left side with his combination of bat speed and power potential.  It's an easy, low tension swing with a good shift into contact and lots of extension through the ball.

Hunter Barco (2019 LHP, Jacksonville, FL) is a primary left handed pitcher but well regarded already as a two-way prospect.  He took one of the best BP's of the day, pulling the ball with authority and lift with a calm and easy approach.

Dylan Rogers (2019 OF, Spartanburg, SC) has impressed the PG scouts at many events with his hitting ability and power potential.  When he gets the barrel head out and looks to hit the ball hard, it really jumps off the barrel.

Brennan Milone (2019 2B, Woodstock, GA) has a hanging front foot load than many young hitters make the mistake of not getting down in time.  Milone does and creates lots of bat speed and projects well physically to get stronger.

Spencer Keefe (2019 SS, Canton, GA) uses a balanced and simple approach at the plate and stays short and quick to the ball for a 6-3/187 athlete.  He's going to keep getting better as he fills out and gets stronger.

Nathan Hickey (2019 C, Jacksonville, FL) is an early Florida commit and is an aggressive right handed hitter who attacks the ball with good bat speed and makes consistent line drive contact.

Gabriel "Lucky" De Zendegui (2019 SS, Miami, FL) has good present strength in his compact 5-9/175 build and a nice hand path to the ball.  He showed some pull power and the ball came off the barrel hard.

Benny Hernandez (2018 1B, Cedar Hill, TX) takes a full effort swing at the ball and there is no mistake he's trying to hit it long and far.  He has the strength and the shift into contact to create lots of bat speed, though, and should hit plenty of home runs over the next few years.

Dominic Flacco (2021 OF, Ormond Beach, FL) has a very nice swing for a 130 pound eighth grader, with a nice hitting rhythm that created consistent hard line drive contact.  He's going to keep improving as he gets stronger.

Jorge Figueroa (2020 2B, Southlake, TX) has a long and lean body and projects very well physically as a freshman.  He has some present bat speed and handled the bat head very well and should continue to improve.

John Rodriguez (2018 SS, Parkland, FL) is an early Florida International commit with a long and loose swing that lots of power potential, along with a nice projectable 6-2/185 build.

Drew Williamson (2018 OF, Brewton, AL) stands out for his big 6-4/210 build and has an aggressive swing with a nice shift into contact that helps him develop even more bat speed.  He has a power future as a hitter.

Michael Sutherland (2019 OF, Windermere, FL) has a deep hand load with a loose and extended swing that creates nice bat speed.  He hit the ball especially well to right centerfield with carry on it.

Mason McCormack (2019 RHP, Tuscumbia, AL) is a primary pitcher but was also one of the stronger players we saw in BP all day,  He has a long and loose swing with some of the best barrel plane and extension that we saw as well.

Taj Bradley (2018 OF, Stone Mountain, GA) has lots of raw bat speed and power potential right now but once he fills out his 6-2/185 frame and learns to use his lower half more in his swing, that raw bat speed is going to jump forward.

Caleb Reis (2019 C, Marietta, GA) is 6-1/195 and definitely has the present strength to hit.  He also has a sound fundamental swing that he repeats well, which resulted in lots of balls squared up and driven hard.

Bryce Reagan (2018 3B, Amherst, NH) was a standout on the summer showcase and tournament showcase, especially with his ability to hit with bat speed and power from both sides of the plate.

Dayron Rodriguez (2018 OF, Coral Springs, FL) hit the ball as high in the air as any hitter in BP today, although as a left handed hitter that doesn't get you much in Fenway South.  If Rodriguez had been a right handed hitter, a few of him moon shots would have cleared the left field wall.

Michael Marin (2018 2B, Miami Lakes, FL) is a polished right handed hitter with a very fundamentally sound, low effort swing that creates lots of bat speed with little effort.  He's going to hit for a high average at this and the next level.

Adrian Figueroa (2020 1B, Miami, FL) really stands out with his loose and athletic 6-5/185 build for a freshman and he has an easy and loose swing that really impacts the ball consistently and hard.  Watch out in a few years when gets more physically mature.

Lency Delgado (2018 SS, Miami, FL) looks like a big leaguer right now with his very athletic 6-3/210 build.  He has obvious strength in his swing and loads of power potential.
