The definition of a high ceiling projectable pitcher, Thompson has a young and slender athletic build with especially long and loose arms. He is already capable of pitching in the mid-90s and has topped out at 96 mph, but his best pitch is a true power curveball with knee-buckling bite that can get into the low-80s. Thompson went 5-1, 2.38 as a junior, with 87 strikeouts in 47 innings, and is now 18-3, 1.87 in three seasons at Cypress Ranch High School.
