Matthew Harrison is a 2008 SS/IF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Henderson, NV who attends Green Valley HS. He has a lean, athletic frame with classic middle infield proportions. Harrison is an outstanding defensive shortstop, one of the top such prospects in the 2008 class. He's a high energy athlete who goes after every ball hard and plays on his toes. Harrison's arm strength is top of the line and he gets rid of the ball quickly for such a cannon. He has the body control and balance to make all the charging and moving plays and make them look easy. There won't be any question about his staying at shortstop. Harrison's ceiling will hinge on how his bat develops. He hits from a tall stance with a calm, quiet load and good balance. His approach is polished and there isn't much a hitting coach is going to tinker with. Harrison will flash good bat speed now and he was able to handle high velocity pitching when he was aggressive, but it will mostly be a matter of strength for him. His swing mechanics and levers show that he could develop some nice gap to gap pop when he gets stronger. Harrison is a vocal, emotional player who looks like he loves being on the field. He is also a good student.

Matthew Harrison is a 2008 SS/IF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Henderson, NV, who attends Green Valley HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Harrison has an athletic frame with a trim waist. He was the best defensive player at the event, and is one of the top defensive shortstops in the nation. He has great actions and is very smooth in the middle of the diamond. Harrison is so smooth and he makes it look too easy. Shows range to both sides showing body control, and he has a very strong and accurate arm as well. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a solid hitting approach. Harrison has a compact swing with bat speed, and he can drive the ball from gap to gap. He shows pop that might allow him to drive the ball with more regularity as he matures. There is great upside to his overall game and every Div I school in the country should be interested. Harrison also has fun playing and plays hard. He always has a smile on his face, and he is a good student as well.

Matthew Harrison is a 2008 SS/IF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Henderson, NV who attends Green Valley. He has a lean athletic body with some wiry strength. Harrison is a top level defensive player at shortstop, both because of his tools and because of his approach. He's smooth and polished coming through the ball and does an excellent job taking the right angles to balls so that he can make easy, balanced throws. Harrison has very good arm strength, although he doesn't often need to cut loose on his throws. Harrison is a vocal leader type out in the field and is in constant motion around the field. Offensively, Harrison hits out of a straight stance with a quick, balanced swing with very good bat speed. He gets the barrell to the ball consistently and is a line drive machine with some pop in his bat. His swing will get a little long at times when he's trying to pull the ball. Harrison also pitches some and threw up to 83 mph with good sink on his fastball and a good biting curveball at 71 mph. Harrison is a very good student who has signed to go across the country and attend North Carolina.

Defensively, Harrison has soft hands with nice defensive actions. He moves to the ball well and has good range on the infield. At the plate, Harrison has a balanced approach and stays balanced through his swing. He has a line drive swing path and is quick through the hitting zone. Harrison pitches from a low 3/4 arm slot with arm speed. He gets sink on his fastball and throws a nice 11/5 curveball. He throws both pitches for strikes and is consistently around the strike zone. Very good student.

Matthew Harrison is a 2008 right hand hitting shortstop/pitcher from Green Valley HS, residing in Henderson, NV. Named a Top Prospect at this event. Harrison has a 6'0" 165 lb. frame a lean, athletic, lively body that is well-proportioned and still physically projectable. He has good present day tools, more development ahead in the future and outstanding feel for playing the game. Offensively Harrison is simply a good hitter, with a compact, fundamentally sound swing. He stays inside the ball well, keeps the barrel in the zone and hits line drives to all fields. His hands work easily and he has good bat speed to and through the ball. As he gets stronger expect his power to start emerging a bit. Harrison could very well develop into a three-hole type hitter. Defensively he where his feel for the game really shines. His hands and footwork are excellent. Beyond that, he takes very good angles, has good range and a quick release, with a baseball clock ticking in his head. His arm is quick and strong. He has the ability to play all over the infield and look like he has been at that particular position his whole life. Though he is a position player beyond high school, he can pitch. Harrision has a quick, sling arm action and a lively delivery. His body control is good and allows him to repeat. His fastball topped at 83 (86 in the infield workout) and had good sinking action. His two plane curveball had good spin and slurvy action. Harrison also showed off his feel of the change-up. He is competitive and knows how to pitch. There is an awful lot Harrison can do on the field and he should continue to get better and better. He is a major D1 prospect and also is likely to get some pro attention in the spring of '08.

Matthew Harrison is a 2008 SS/P from Green Valley HS, residing in Henderson, NV, with a 6'0" 165 lb. frame. Harrison was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase and was written up in the Top Prospect list. He is well-proportioned, with an athletic body that is lean and wiry. At the plate Harrison is a very good player. He is quite handsy and has good bat control. He swings with nice balance and consistently makes a nice hand path. Harrison has a pretty simple approach and swing and it really works for him. The ball exits his bat well, with his line-drive approach that results in some gap pop. At times he shows a slight uppercut and he can spray the ball to all fields. As he gets older and stronger, he should be capable of leaving the yard on occasion. What is clear now is that Harrison likes to play. He likes to hit and he likes to play defense. Defensively he is a very good defender who takes good angles to the ball and also makes plays on the run. He has a quick release and nice body control, not to mention hands that are very good. He has a solid set-up to the ball and his feet are consistently in good position. Harrison can play all over the INF and his arm can play at SS. On the mound he pitched from a 3/4 slot with a decent arm action. He stays within himself and uses solid mechanics. There was some sink on his 80 mph FB. Harrison is a strike thrower and basically looked like an infielder who pitches, though with some feel. He certainly can get HS hitters out and he understands how to pitch. Consider Harrison a very strong D1 prospect for most programs. He is a well-rounded player.

Matthew Harrison is a 2008 SS/P/2B with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Henderson NV, who attends Green Valley. Matthew has a good body with a lean build. Matthew has fluid actions defensively and good body control as he maintains good balance while he fields the ball. Matthew has good arm strength with solid carry on his throws. Matthew is an aggressive baserunner and has good game speed. At the plate, Matthew starts with a good coil and load and stays balanced through his swing. He has bat speed and has makes consistent solid line drive contact. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot and has a long loose arm action. Matthew gets good armside run and sink on his fastball and throws a solid 10/4 curveball. Matthew appears to be a natural leader and demonstrated great leadership skills at this event. Matthew was named to the Top Prospect Team and is an excellent student.

Matt Harrison is a 2008 SS/P/OF from Green Valley HS in Henderson, NV, with a 6'0", 165 lb. frame. Harrison was named to the top prospect team at the event and did many things well, especially for a 2008. Defensively he has good actions at shortstop and made some tough plays in the showcase games. He has well above average arm strength for his age (78IF) with good on-line carry and his throws were accurate. At the plate he has quiet hands and an advanced approach. He sometimes gets too aggressive and his weight drifts to his front side early, but we see him making that adjustment. Harrison stays inside the ball well with good adjustability with his hands and has very good bat speed. On the mound he has very good arm action with a balanced delivery. His fastball topped out at 81 mph with sink. Harrison also has a good feel for his changeup and spins the breaking ball well. He is very poised on the mound with a great deal of potential. It only took him 14 pitches to get through his two innings of work. Harrison is a two way talent that needs to be followed, and he is also a very good student.

Matt Harrison is a 2008 IF/RHP from Las Vegas, Nevada, with a 6'0", 160 lb. frame. Defensively he has good actions with solid footwork and hands. Harrison has very good arm strength across the infield for a 2008 graduate. He was accurate with good carry on his throws. He is a right handed hitter with a very quick bat. He turns on the ball well, and has good balance in his swing showing college level power projection. He has the tools to be a top level hitter with athletic actions and good instincts. Harrison also pitched two innings at the event. He has smooth mechanics with good balance in his delivery. His arm is loose and works well with good arm speed. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and his fastball topped out at 78 mph. He sometimes falls off to the first base side which takes away from his velocity and control. Harrison is a very talented 2008 two-way player with present tools. He is a must follow.
