CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Perfect Game Super25 will be back in action in the SoCal Region February 15-17 where nine age divisions (9u-17u) will battle it out in their respective tournaments for a bid to the National Championship. The tournaments expect to be highly competitive considering the pool of talent in Southern California and will give each team a chance to prove they are the best team in the region.
Six locations are to be used for those tournaments. Chino Hills will host the 10u, 12u, and 13u tournaments. Fontana will play home to the 9u and 11u age groups. La Serna, Montebello, La Verne, and Ontario will host the 14u-17u age groups in that order. All games will have live play-by-play and statistics from GameChanger.
Although the Super25 tournament series is in its inaugural season, Perfect Game has had a consistent presence in Southern California and scouted the storied Major League phenom Bryce Harper at the 2005 SoCal Pre-High Showcase when he was just 12-years-old. Harper connected for two home runs and touched 79-mph with his fastball and the rest is history. He is a great example of why it is never too early to benefit from the exposure a player gets from participating in Perfect Game events.
The
20 regional champions and five super regional champions in each age
group will contend for national championships at five sites --
Nashville, Tenn. (9u/11u), Charleston, S.C. (10u/12u), McKinney,
Texas (13u), Fort Myers, Fla. (14u/15u/16u) and Phoenix, Ariz. (17u)
-- in July, 2014.
Perfect Game's new Super25 tournament series emphasizes baseball as a
'team' sport. Every team for each age group must submit a roster before
the start of any qualifying play and adhere to that roster throughout
each step of the tournament through the National Championship. The
players must reside in the respective region. Super25 hopes to emphasis
the importance of team commitment, integrity, chemistry, and the reward
of winning as a team.
There
will be all-tournament teams named at each step along the way. Every
championship team will receive a custom-made championship trophy and
team members in the 14u through 17u age-groups will receive a
specially designed championship ring they can treasure the rest of
their lives. The younger age-groups (9u-13u) will receive individual
medals and every roster member of each age-group championship team
will receive special caps and T-shirts.
An
All-Star Game will be played at the PG Super25 16u and 17u National
Championships, to be contested right before the national championship
games are played; the All-Star games will include only players not
involved in the championship game.
