5/6 Game Recaps

8:00AM- The Gulf Coast Monarchs defeat Florida Force in a close game to improve them to 3-0 in pool play and have officially clinched the number 1 seed. Nicholas Raber threw a gem for the Monarchs pitching a complete game, striking out 8, and only letting up 1 run on 1 hit. Kevin Castellanos had 2 RBI's for the Monarchs.

10:00 AM- The Gulf Coast Waves absolutely crushed the ball all game to push them to a win over Florida Force 10U. It was a complete team effort with nearly everyone on the roster recording a hit and RBI. Cameron Rhodes was on the bump for them striking out 8 and only letting up 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings of work. This was a huge game for them as they will lock up the 2 seed and head into the playoffs hot. They will face Florida Force 11U in the semifinals.

Semifinals- Gulf Coast Monarchs 10U cruise through the semifinals after a win over Florida Force 10U and will advance to the championship! Alan Overmyer threw a complete game 1-hit shutout and struck out 4 for the Monarchs. Joseph Contreras and Rylan Stewart both combined for 7 RBI's while Brody Ryan led the team with 3 runs scored.

Gulf Coast Waves and Florida Force 11U played in possibly the best game of the tournament with no score through 4 innings. The Waves eventually got hot in the bottom of the 5th to put up 3 runs and defeat the Force 3-0. they will advance to the championship and play Gulf Coast Monarchs 10U. The first 5 hitters in the Waves lineup recorded hits as well as providing their 3 RBI's.

Championship- The 11U playoffs were filled with great games and the championship game was as good as they come. The Gulf Coast Waves and Gulf Coast Monarchs 10U fought back and forth for the first few innings trading runs but the Monarchs ended up coming out victorious in a 4-2 win. Kevin Castellanos threw 5.1 great innings for the Monarchs only letting up 1 earned run on 1 hit. Offensively, Alan Overymyer led the way for the Monarchs with 3 big hits including a triple and an RBI. Overmyer ended up being the MVP of the tournament tallying up 8 total hits. Nicholas Raber from the Monarchs was the MVP Pitcher as he went 1-0 and led the tournament in K's with 9.
