2016 Top Prospects

Zach Watson  OF - 2016 - Ruston, LA
Louisiana State

Watson is an extremely fast-twitched shortstop who is already committed to Louisiana State University and showed off his top of the charts speed with an impressive 6.38 60-yard dash. His arm strength of 88 mph across the diamond also stands out as does his short and quick right-handed stroke with power to his pull side.

Brock Figueroa  RHP - 2016 - Ennis, TX
Howard College

Currently uncommitted, Figueroa showed off the best velocity on the mound all weekend running his fastball up to 90 mph with a quick and easy arm action. He works from an over the top arm slot and though he projects for more velocity he's already able to miss barrels and repeat his delivery.

Dylan Lester  RHP - 2016 - Brenham, TX
Pittsburgh/San Jacinto CC

Committed to the University of Houston Lester came out and topped 89 mph with his fastball showing life to his arm side and the ability to locate to his glove side. He shows nice arm speed coming through the back with looseness and featured both a curveball and a slider that was up to 76 mph with tilting life.

Anthony Bernardez  RHP - 2016 - Prosper, TX
Grayson County College

Bernardez is one of a handful of players who showed interesting two-way potential at the next level. A 6-foot-1 primary right-handed pitcher, Bernardez ran his fastball up to 88 mph with riding life from an easy arm action. He also showed interesting strength off the barrel of his right-handed swing with a quick barrel and short stroke.

Carter Camp  RHP - 2016 - McKinney, TX
West Virginia

Camp has an athletic 6-foot-4 frame and did a nice job of repeating his delivery during his time on the mound, Showing strong upside on the bump, Camp topped out at 88 mph with an easy arm action and late life on the pitch. His curveball served as a difference maker at 72 mph with 12-6 shape and depth on the pitch.

Cody Bradford  LHP - 2016 - Aledo, TX
Baylor

Bradford is an uncommitted left-handed pitcher who showed a loose arm action through the back and did a nice job of creating angle and downhill plane on his heater that topped at 86 mph. He did a nice job of pounding the strike zone with a full three pitch mix and missing bats while showing comfort in each offering.

Drew Medford  RHP - 2016 - Fort Worth, TX
TCU

After showcasing his strength to left field with his short right-handed swing early in the showcase Medford jumped on the mound and again impressed. Showing good arm speed through the back Medford attacked hitters with a fastball up to 87 mph from a low three-quarter arm slot while locating well to his glove side part of the plate.

Koby Hott  OF - 2016 - Wichita Falls, TX
Hill College

After impressing with his strong and quick right-handed swing during batting practice, the uncommitted Hott continued to swing a hot bat with hard contact during in game action that included an impressive home run. An impressive athlete, Hott also ran a 6.81 and topped out at 89 mph with his top throw from the outfield.

Tyler Torres  3B - 2016 - Killeen, TX
University of Texas at Brownsville

Torres showed well with the bat throughout the weekend as he recorded several hits against live pitching and showed off power to his pull side during batting practice. Torres showed off his biggest arm strength from the outfield topping out at 88 mph and also performed well in the infield before jumping on the mound where he ran his fastball up to 85 mph.

Casey Pelton  RHP - 2016 - Chandler, TX
North Central Texas College

Pelton used his long 6-foot-3 frame well on the mound to generate both downhill plane on his fastball and solid velocity as he topped out at 88 mph with his heater. Currently uncommitted, Pelton demonstrated a sound overall feel on the mound and a showed a short curveball at 74 mph.

Jacob Salim  3B - 2016 - Dallas, TX
Oral Roberts/Howard College

A primary third baseman and currently uncommitted, Salim showed off a strong arm across the infield with a top throw of 86 mph before again showing his arm strength on the mound with a top of 87 mph on his fastball in his quick one inning of work. His right-handed swing shows fluidity in his hands and interesting strength off the barrel to the middle of the field.

Phillip Ahern  LHP - 2016 - Austin, TX
West Virginia

An uncommitted left-handed arm, Ahern showed off a loose and whippy arm action that he used to run his fastball up to 85 mph with running life to his arm side. He projects well physically and has a feel on the mound as he was able to manipulate the shape of his breaking ball effectively.

Jake Baker  OF - 2016 - Cedar Hill, TX
Fordham

Full of quick-twitch muscle, Baker ran an impressive 6.52 60-yard dash and used that speed well to cover ground in the outfield as well. With defensive tools to play center field Baker showed a quick and over the top arm action that produced an 86 mph throw from the outfield and showed similar athleticism during his time in the infield too.

Ezekiel Bear  3B - 2016 - Cypress, TX
Uncommitted

Ezekiel Bear put together a nice showcase on both sides of the ball, showing athletic actions and good arm strength across the diamond from third base. His left-handed swing also stood out with natural lift to his pull side and a short, quick stroke with carry off the barrel.

Bryce Bonner  C - 2016 - Allen, TX
Purdue

Bonner impressed on both sides of the ball throughout the showcase as he put his defensive abilities on display by turning in one of the stronger throws from behind the plate at 77 mph to go with his agile and quick defensive actions. He also showed quick, loose wrists at the plate and with a short path to hte ball was able to create consistent hard contact to all fields.

Dylan Bryant  3B - 2016 - Lakeway, TX

Bryant showed off impressive arm strength throughout the weekend and began his showcase by topping out at 87 mph across the infield. He showed nice actions to the ball and got extension out front at release before jumping on the mound where he worked in the 83-85 mph range his fastball. Bryant also created consistent contact to his pull side with extension in his right-handed swing.

Troy Davern  RHP - 2016 - Richardson, TX
Monroe College

With a lean 6-foot-4 frame Davern projects well physically and impressed throughout the weekend with his bat. A right-handed hitter, Davern showed strength and lift to his pull side with a short path to the ball. After running a 6.90 60-yard dash, Davern showed off his arm strength from the outfield (87 mph) and athletic actions at first base with a quick and clean arm action.

Andrew Davis  RHP - 2016 - Frisco, TX
Uncommitted

Davis has a well built 6-foot-2, 200-frame and used it nicely to generate a fastball that topped out at 86 mph during his time on the mound. While generating some downhill plane on the fastball, Davis showed the makings of a quality changeup with late diving life down in the zone at 77 mph.

Michael Fischer  LHP - 2016 - Keller, TX

Fischer projects nicely as he continues to fill out physically and already shows a long and fluid arm action both on the mound and in the outfield. Working comfortably in the low-80s with more velocity on the way Fischer showed some sinking life when on top of the ball. The arm action was just as impressive from the outfield where he topped 91 mph with a clean quick arm stroke.

Taylor Floyd  RHP - 2016 - Frisco, TX
Texas Tech/Grayson County College

Floyd has a long and lean 6-foot-1 frame that projects well moving forward though he already shows interesting stuff on the mound. Running his fastball up to 86 mph with a short and quick arm action, Floyd also showed depth on his slider and his overall athleticism by running a 6.88 60-yard.

Tod Gauthe  RHP - 2016 - Port Allen, LA

Though a primary right-handed pitcher, Gauthe also showed well in the outfield with his overall athleticism as he topped at 86 mph and ran a 6.97 60-yard. On the mound the uncommitted Gauthe showed a quick arm with downhill plane on his fastball that also topped at 86 mph with a clean, over the top arm action.

Jase Griffin  OF - 2016 - Metairie, LA
Spring Hill College

Griffin overall tool set is certainly impressive as he ranked near the top of the showcase in top 60-yard time (6.47) and outfield velocity with a top throw of 90 mph. Full of quick-twitch Griffin showed sound mechanics in the outfield as well as quick wrists in the batters box with a line drive swing plane.

Christian Isenhour  RHP - 2016 - Austin, TX
Cisco Junior College

Isenhour already showed an impressive fastball up to 86 mph and sat steadily in the mid-80s throughout and projects for more as he continues to fill out his long 6-foot-2 frame. His heater shows rising life with occasional cutting action and attacks hitters with both pitches while showing a quick arm action.

Shawn Kelley  C - 2016 - Sweeny, TX
Air Force

Shawn Kelley had a solid all around weekend and showed well at his primary position behind the plate by popping an event best 1.83 to compliment one of the top arms with a throw of 78 mph to second base. He showed the same arm strength from the outfield and showed a short swing with carry to his pull side.

Trey Roach  C - 2016 - Colleyville, TX
Birmingham-Southern College

Roach performed both during games and throughout batting practice with his strong right-handed swing. With quick hands used to create nice bat speed, Roach showed strength to his pull side with a home run off live pitching while projecting for more strength.

Andrew Spencer  OF - 2016 - Murphy, TX

Spencer put his tool set on display early in the showcase by running a 6.65 60-yard dash early in the event and followed it up with the top outfield velocity of the showcase at 91 mph. Spencer displayed a feel for the barrel from the right side with consistent contact to the middle and pull side part of the field.
