Troy Davern is a 2016 RHP/1B, OF with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Richardson, TX who attends Ward Melville Senior. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders, long limbs, and a high waist with present strength. Ran a 6.90 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, shows nice overall looseness to delivery, high leg lift with slight hip turn at top before driving towards plate and releasing from a tight high three-quarter slot. Gets across body at release occasionally, fastball topped at 81 mph and showed ability to locate through zone. Nice feel for slider at 73 mph, shows depth and some tilting life. Works on top of ball from the outfield, generates carry with nice strength and shows quick transfer. Quick arm at first, moves well off the bag with athleticism and nice footwork, ball comes out very clean. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and slight wrap at top. Hands stay close to body with a short path to the ball. Line drive swing plane, creates occasional lift at contact, displays feel for the barrel with present strength and carry when squared. More strength on the way with incorporation of lower half. Named to South Top Prospect List. Very good student.
