Jose Ortiz Gonzalez is a 2021 C/1B, 3B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Guayama, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium frame with strong build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.65 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with high back elbow, upper-half oriented swing, feet stay planted through swing, backside hitter, gets barrel moving uphill, shows strength when square. Primary catcher, sets up well behind the plate, receives well, elongated strides out of crouch, clocked up to 73 mph on throws. Took infield reps, hands work well when out front, more stationary feet, clocked up to 79 mph across. Ran his fastball up to 80 mph on the mound from high three quarters slot, some life on pitch, very raw profile on the mound. Good student.
