Derek Wagler is a 2020 SS/2B with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Rifle, CO who attends Rifle. Medium frame with a slender build and room to fill out moving forward. Long limbs and a high waist. Ran a 6.87 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary shortstop. Stays low through field with a deeper funnel to the chest. Comes through the ball and maintains momentum towards the base. Has fluidity and quickness to hands working through exchanges. Shows range in both directions and accuracy on throws at 77 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with a slightly open stance and high hand set. Uses a leg lift trigger for timing. Creates lift out front with a gap to gap, line drive approach. Showing consistency with the barrel on a contact oriented path. Good student as well.
