Zachary Bateski is a 2018 RHP/2B, 3B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Highlands Ranch, CO who attends Mountain Vista. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather with slight coil over back leg. Utilizes lower half using drop and drives actions to the plate, carries momentum well and stays in line through finish. Long arm circle back at separation and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Looked to get ahead early in count with a fastball offering that flashed good downhill angle with running action through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 to 12/6 shape with tight spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that hand some sinking actions, tends to slow arm speed slightly with offering. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing deliberate feet while rounding the baseball and working through transition. Clean, smooth paced actions while funneling and working through exchange. Created soft, accurate carry across the infield from a low three-quarters arm slot topping at 80 mile per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and a high hand set. Barrels comes through the zone on a level path with a line drive plane through extension. Stays balanced throughout swing and utilized a gap to gap approach throughout batting practice and game play. Good student as well.
