Liam O'Connor is a 2019 OF/RHP with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Dana Point, CA who attends San Juan Hills. Medium frame with an athletic build. Shows some present strength and projects for additional strength with continued physical development. Ran a 6.93 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder with good actions while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with deliberate exchanges and developing fluidity while working through transition. Deep arm circle prior to releasing from a long, loose arm action. Topped at 77 miles per hour and created some on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and large leg kick trigger. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions and stays on back side throughout. Loose hand path to contact with a naturally lifted swing plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach but flashed the ability to turn barrel to contact and generated hard line drive contact to the pull side gap as well. Also pitched employing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather, uses lower half well with drop and drive actions to the plate. Swings front side at times while driving downhill to the plate and generates quick hip rotation to finish. Deep arm circle back and releases from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed good life through the zone with occasional running action to arm side at 73-76 miles per hour. Curveball has 11/5 shape with good rotation and solid depth when staying on top of offering and working down in the strike zone. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with curveball offering when attempting to spot up on the outside edge of the plate. Consistently filled the strike zone and flashed command to each edge of the plate when repeating arm action. Very good student. Named to the 2016 Call Underclass Top Prospect List.
