David Mendham is a 2017 C/3B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Dorchester, ON who attends London Catholic. Large frame with present strength throughout. Ran a 7.52 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a tall, slightly side set stance while setting up to release. Gains ground while working to the bag with loose glove to hand exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot that produced solid on line carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.91. Left handed hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Produced good lower half shift into contact with linear action. Hands start at a compact position prior to launching on a leverage path through extension. Controls the barrel very well throughout the zone with the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Aggressively turned the barrel when working to pull side creating very loud, hard jump off the barrel. Consistently hammered the baseball throughout batting practice. Very good student. Named to the 2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase-Top Prospect List.
