James Petrick is a 2019 RHP/SS with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Sellersville, PA who attends Pennridge. Wiry build with a projectable frame for additional size with strength. On the mound shows good lower half actions with the ability to drive hips to an on line plane to the plate. Quick arm action from a compact three quarter arm slot, tends to drop arm to a low three quarters slot at times. Even tempo delivery, tends to lose some lower half drive when rushing through offering. Fastball shows heaviness at times with the ability to command both edges of the plate. Flashed a slider with some spin and tilt at 66 mph. Consistent in the zone with good feel from both pitches. Primarily stays down in the strike zone producing soft, ground ball contact. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance. Hands load to a low position and launch on an uphill path to contact. Primarily uses a mid-field approach that results in line drive, fly ball contact to the gaps. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing developing glove actions while surrounding the baseball. Quick glove to hand transition and release topping at 74 mph across the infield. Projects as a pitching prospect at this time.
