Erwin De La Serna is a 2017 RHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Mexico City. Large frame with long, lanky build; long limbs with excellent physical projection remaining on body. Big rocker step into windup with high leg kick, delivery is balanced as he gathers well over the rubber, shows good line and overall direction to the plate through release. Foot lands in line with the plate and he is able to clear his hips well. Medium-length arm action up to high three quarters slot, gets good extension out front at release. Fastball worked in the 67-72 MPH range and touched as high as 73 MPH; shows the ability to work the fastball to both sides of the plate and isn't afraid to challenge hitters inside with the pitch. Showed curveball with 11/4 shape and some sweeping action; can generate good depth on the pitch. Did a very good job overall throwing strikes with both pitches and filling up the zone in general. Kept hitters off balance successfully. Good student.
