Steven Looney is a 2017 1B/LHP with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Southaven, MS who attends Magnolia Heights. Medium frame with strong, sturdy present build; body projects somewhat yet. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.33 seconds. Sets up to hit with even stance, hands load deep and back, big stride forward into swing momentum, generates solid bat speed and has serious intent in swing, did a good job using the whole field with a line drive swing plane. Fields ball cleanly at 1B and has smoothness to footwork, made accurate throws from high 3/4 slot, clocked up to 70 MPH. Pitched as well, loose arm to mid-three quarters slot release, deceptive crossfire in delivery, attacks hitters and throws strikes. FB worked 73-76 MPH, good command to both sides, showed sweeping 1/7 CB with good depth, mixed both pitches effectively and kept hitters off balance consistently. Very good student.
