Two Invitational champs crowned

EMERSON, Ga. – The Parkview Panthers exploded for 13 runs of offense en route to their victory in the championship final over the SM Thunder. The Panthers were able to capture the 2017 PG 10u Invitational crown thanks to a 13-5 final score to cap off an undefeated weekend. 

The Thunder jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after a two-run home run off the bat of Trey Farr. The Panthers would storm back in the bottom half of the inning for six runs of their own. Ford Thompson would deliver the first blow as his two-run home run knotted the game at two runs apiece. The Panthers would then go on to score four more runs capped off by a home run off the bat of Porter Berryman

The Panthers would continue to pile on as they put up seven runs across the next three innings. They reached thirteen runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in order to clinch a run-rule victory over the Thunder.

Porter Berryman clinched MV-Pitcher honors for the Parkview Panthers over the course of the tournament. Berryman finished the tournament with three scoreless innings that included three strikeouts and a WHIP of under 1.000. Landon Roldan came away with the MVP award for the Parkview Panthers. Roldan hit a tournament high .778, which included seven hits, and had eight RBI, six runs scored, and one home run.

2017 PG 10u Invitational MV-Pitcher: Porter Berryman





EMERSON, Ga. – The Evoshield Canes held off a furious comeback attempt by the Wilson Vols to capture the championship of the 2017 PG 9u Invitational. The Canes defeated the Vols by a score of 8-7 in a game that featured a ton of drama.

The game featured a modest 3-2 lead by the Canes heading into the third inning where the Canes broke out their bats. They plated four runs in the bottom of the third. The offense was a heavy factor in the victory as Ethan Gilchrist, Austin Clark, and Miguel Delgado all added at least a hit and an RBI apiece. 


The Vols were down, but not out as the game entered the final inning. The Vols plated three runs in the inning and were down only a run with two outs in the game. The Canes then forced a line out to end the game and secure the championship victory. 

Hunter Graham of the Canes was named tournament MVP. Graham finished the tournament hitting .667, good for second on the team, but also knocked in eight RBI, and scored nine runs all while hitting a blistering five home runs. Gus Gardner of the Vols was named MV-Pitcher for the tournament. In his one start, Gardner went five strong innings while only allowing one earned run and striking out six batters.
