San Diego

The Toreros had four players drafted in June which speaks to the consistently high talent level that Rich Hill attracts to this program. Sophomore Jay Schuyler was the best player on the field this fall and his position options include first base, catcher and DH. The newcomer group on the mound could be a special one for San Diego with righthander Louie Crow and lefties Chris Murphy and Miles Sandum leading the way. Infielder Rykker Tom is another freshman to keep an eye on.

Pepperdine

Strikeouts were a challenge for the Waves' offense in 2016 so two-strike approach was a point of emphasis this fall. Two standouts have been junior catcher Austin Bernard and freshman shortstop Quincy McAfee. On the mound, freshman righthander Will Jensen and juniors Max Gamboa and Max Green have been outstanding as well. Freshman Brandt Belk (6-foot-3, 170-pounds) has size and position versatility and he looks ready to contribute right away.
