PG Softball OKC Challenge

Perfect Game OKC Challenge

Norman, OK

May 31-June 2

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA- The softball world converged in Oklahoma City this weekend not only for the premier event in all of softball, the Women’s College World Series, but also for another outstanding OKC Challenge!  After a lively opening ceremony, featuring the National Champion Alex Storako, games began Friday night under the lights.  Many outstanding athletes competed, and though the final games of the tournament got cancelled because of rain, some amazing softball was played.  Below are recaps and notes about the weekend’s notable performers.

18U Division

Paiton Hedges  (2025 Jenks, OK) of the Pryme 16U-Ray was a standout player this weekend.  Her size, power potential, and solid swing made her stand out to our scout.  She barreled up many balls and showed strong ability to hit to all fields.  Early in the tournament she let an outside pitch travel well and drove it oppo for an RBI.  She’s one to watch for sure.

Adisyn Peetoom (2025 Nardin, OK) Pryme 16U-Ray. This 2025 pitcher showed off some great movement and was deceiving hitters throughout the weekend.  She showed some great late break on her curveball and was able to also get some solid swing and misses when she elevated her pitches in the zone.  Her speeds ranged from 55mph to 58mph over the weekend. Overall, a solid pitcher who has great potential and we are excited to see what she does this summer season!

Isabell Daniels (2025 Bartlesville, OK) of the Pryme 16U-Ray was impressive to watch this weekend.  The third baseman/shortstop has a strong and athletic build and shows next level ability on D. Her first step towards the ball is impressive and she has a great drop step on balls in the air. She truly stood out on defense, and she showed next level ability at multiple positions.  Daniels also has a solid swing offensively, worked counts well, and is just an overall solid athlete.

Mash-Ta Littlecook (2026 Ponca City, OK) of the Pryme 16U-Ray showed off with her bat this weekend!  She showed a great ability to hit to all fields, really letting the outside pitch travel and going with it well.  She had scrappy at bats and was able to drive a solid ball down the line on a very outside pitch.  Super athletic kid who moves very well around the bases and is solid as a middle infielder with great range.  Keep your eyes on this one.

Makayla Methvin (2026 Bolivar, MO) of the MO Aces 16U had a great weekend at the plate, leading the team with a .545 average in six games.  With four singles, a double, and triple, she showed great consistency at the plate.  Methvin moved well on the basepath and was a huge contributor to the Aces four wins on the weekend.  Makayla also showed great patience at the plate and worked counts well.  She has great hand eye awareness and didn’t strike out in 15 plate appearances.  We look forward to watching her in the future.

Samantha Schneider (2026 Springfield, MO) of the MO Aces 16U impressed behind the dish as well as at the plate.  One thing that caught this scout’s eye was her presence behind the plate.  She has great glove work and soft framing to get more calls, and solid arm strength to throw runners out.  She was excellent as a leader, guiding her defense and pitchers throughout the games I saw.  Offensively, she has good pop with her barrel, and finished the weekend batting .429.  She had to be patient at the plate, as she was walked four times, but she impacted the team on both sides of the ball and has potential for the next level.

Chelsye Graham (2024 Ash Grove, MO) of the MO Aces 18U was a force behind the plate and in the batter’s box.  She has a strong build and a confident presence behind the plate. She frames the ball well, gets low in her stance, and keeps the ball in front of her.  Has a good arm and the ability to throw runners out.  Offensively she has a sound swing with high level power potential.  She finished the weekend batting .333 and is someone to follow in the future.

Rhyenne Jones (2026 Raymore, MO) of the KC Rebels 16U Shafer was a force at the plate this weekend.  No stranger to pressure situations, she came through multiple times for multi-RBI performances this weekend.  She was patient at the plate and made the most of the opportunity when she got her pitch.  She was fun to watch and I look forward to seeing more from this 2026 athlete!

Sidney Chaitman (2026 Olathe, KS) of the KC Rebels 16U Shafer had herself a weekend at the plate.  She showed incredible power with the bat, having multi hit performances throughout the weekend.  She has next level pop off the bat and will be fun to watch as she continues to develop!

14U Division

Hope Staudenmaier (2027 Norwalk, IA) of Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14U, was a top offensive producer this weekend.  She showed incredible athleticism both on offense and defense.  Hope was about as consistent as you can get, hitting a whopping .833over the five-game stretch.  She showed off both her barrel pop and speed, hitting seven singles, two doubles, and a triple.  One of the most impressive stats from the weekend was her eight stolen bases.  She truly was a spark for this Iowa Gold offense.  She kept her hands on plane very well on pitches up in the zone and hit gap to gap. She also stayed poised with runners in scoring position, notching five RBIs on the weekend as well. She is a dynamic athlete who is growing every single year.

Alexandra Wiatrek (2029 Driftwood, TX) of the DSTX 14U- Hosford showed incredible pop with her bat this weekend.  She drove in eight runs and popped 4 extra base hits including a triple!  Wiatrek showed great barrel action and provides next level whip and pop.  She has a strong build and shows great potential to be a middle of the lineup hitter in her future.  She finished the weekend batting over .500 and was consistent in the box.  We are excited to see where this young but strong athlete can go!

Abigail Stanaland (2027 Austin, TX) of the DSTX 14U-Hosford was one of the most productive offensive players this weekend.  She finished the weekend hitting an impressive .833, getting 10 hits in 12 at-bats.  She worked counts really well and showed great patience, walking three times.  When she did get a good pitch to hit, she went to work, getting eight singles and a double.  Stanaland also showed great poise with runners in scoring position, notching ten RBIs on the weekend! She also showed her athleticism on the basepaths, stealing safely three times.  Keep your eyes on this dynamic and exciting player!

Elliotte Von Roden (2028 Dallas Center, IA) of Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14U was as perfect as it gets!  She batted an astounding 1.000 this weekend in their five games.  She showed great patience at the plate, walking four times, but taking advantage when she got a good pitch to hit.  She also showed her athleticism and speed, stealing three bases.  Von Roden is an athletic kid who has a high ceiling, and we are excited to watch her continue to grow!

Eden Ladehoff (2028 Conrad, IA) of Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14U was outstanding in the circle this weekend.  She took the bulk of the innings for Iowa Gold, only surrendering five hits in five appearances.  In 12.1 innings of work, she struck out an impressive 18 batters and ended the weekend with a 0.00 ERA.  Ladehoff has a strong build and solid mechanics.  She kept batters off balance and was excellent at expanding the zone when ahead for strikeouts.  She is one to follow in the future as she has great potential to play at the next level.

Bergen Duarte (2028 Windsor, CO) of FC Stars Somday 14U was a steady offensive performer for her team this weekend!  She finished the tournament hitting an impressive .600 with two doubles and two triples!  She led her team with seven RBIs showed her power potential with a 1.200 slugging pct!  She was fun to watch over the weekend and not only was a consistent force at the plate for FC Stars, she showed great leadership on defense as well!  She caught the bunk of the innings for her team, throwing out two runners attempting to steal, and overall worked incredibly hard for her pitchers.  She was a vocal leader and has a good glove on the corner pitches to get the call.  She is a fun one to watch in the future!

Gabriella Wagner (2028 Windsor, CO) of FC Stars- Somday 14U was a consistent producer for her team.  She rose to the occasion multiple times against some of the best teams in the tournament.  One game in particular she belted a triple and two singles against the top pitcher in the tournament.  One thing I noticed is how she has the ability to drive the ball to all fields.  She had great patience on an outside pitch, letting it travel and driving a triple down the right field line for 3 RBI’s.  She moves well on defense and is just an overall athletic kid who has a high upside.  Looking forward to seeing her growth over these next few months!

12U Division

Perfect Game typically doesn’t offer scouting notes on 12U, but I wanted to highlight a few of the top teams of the tournament because they played incredible ball!

The DSTX 2030 Anderson/Walls 12U club from Dripping Springs, Texas went undefeated on the weekend, outscoring opponents 52-5.  Their impressive pitching staff combined for two no hitters and only gave up EIGHT hits all weekend! Led in the circle by Tynleigh Anderson, and offensively Vivian Vaughan and Abigail Johnson. I am excited to follow this young and exciting team in the future!

The Colorado Batbusters Gallardo 12U also showed great skill over the weekend.  They took advantage of every opportunity, taking extra bases and coming up with some clutch hitting.  Savanna Pena was a spark on offense, and they did an amazing job capitalizing on their opportunities. They are a high energy team and battled through some close games to finish 3-1 on the weekend!  This is a team to watch in the future!

The SD United 12U went 4-1 on the weekend, competing in every inning.  They had multiple dominating performance on offense, posting up 58 runs and giving up 13.  Their pitcher was consistently in the low 50’s and had some strong offensive performance by Marley Seumanutafa and Addilynn Kraft

College Players of the Week: April 21

April 21st Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Tague Davis, IF, Louisville  The Louisville Cardinals (22-18) haven’t been able to get themselves in much of a groove this spring, their longest winning streak is 5-games, and they are (4-6) in their last 10-games.  The issue has not been the offense as the Cardinals are averaging over 8-runs per game and Tague Davis is leading the club in virtually every offensive category.  His calling card is his 70-grade power and that was on display last weekend in their series against Cal.  In the three-game series, Davis went 7 for 12, scoring 4 runs, launching 5 home runs and collected 7 RBIs.  The 6-4/220 lefthanded hitter from West Chester, PA has a pure stroke, is one of the premier power hitters in the nation and has significantly improved his plate discipline from a year ago.  After his big weekend, he is...

College Top 25: April 20

As the old saying goes, “all good things must come to an end” and that was the case last Tuesday when UCLA (36-3) saw their 27-game win streak come to an end in a shutout loss to UCSB.  However, the No. 1 team in the land still has their 21-game winning streak in Big Ten to protect, as they have started off league play without a single blemish.  The Bruins will remain atop our poll this week and their historical start to the season roll on.  The UNC Tarheels (33-7-1) move up to No. 2 this week after they made their biggest statement of the year by taking the weekend series from now No. 4 Georgia Tech (32-7).  No. 3 Texas (30-8) and No. 5 Georgia (32-9) both went (3-1) on the week and won their SEC series to stay in contention for the regular season title.  Florida State (28-11) had a nice bounce back (4-0) week and re-enter the Top 10 at No. 8 this...

Coppy's Corner: April 16 POY Deep Dive

John Coppolella
Article Image
Each week I huddle with Vinnie Cervino and Craig Cozart  to discuss Top-25 rankings and Players of the Week. In Coppy’s Corner, I dive deeper into these Players of the Week, providing analysis from 20+ years working in baseball front offices at the highest level.   Player of the Week: Jaquae Stewart – Texas State University  If you squint a little bit, you can see some Josh Naylor or Dominic Smith in Jaquae Stewart, with a stout build like a more powerful version of the teacup from the children’s song. Lately, the Sun Belt Conference has been child’s play for Stewart as he has been on fire showing an improved hit approach and power that tracks more with his 2024 performance at Northwest Florida State College than with his 2025 experience at the University of Texas. It’s tough for any player to jump from a JUCO in Florida to the big stage...

Since I first saw him as a sophomore, Gomez-Gudiño has long been one of my favorite prospects in the state. The backstop features a super physical frame at 6-foot-0, 215-pounds with a thick lower half and strong forearms. Defensively, Gomez-Gudiño has always stood out. He moves well for his size behind the plate and receives with confident hands. The catch-and-throw ability stands out. Gomez-Gudiño looks to be aggressive and will back pick runners often. The glove alone makes...

Another week of undefeated weeks for our top 4 ranked teams. Joining them in the top 5, coming off an undefeated week of their own, is Florence-Darlington, a team we have consistently had as a top 10 team all season long. Cloud County and Midland College continue to put together strong weeks and climb the rankings each week it seems. Jumping into the rankings this week on the strength of a 15-game winning streak is Seminole State (OK). And Linn Benton makes the top 25 for a 2nd consecutive week and looks like the top team in the NWAC this spring. Plenty of high-level matchups at the JUCO level for some of the top teams in the county this next week.  Rk. DII/DIII/NAIA Rankings Update: April 15

Nick Herfordt
Article Image
Welcome to this week's small school baseball rankings, covering NCAA Division II, the NAIA, and NCAA Division III. As the calendar turns toward the final weeks of the regular season, the urgency is real across all three levels — teams are running out of weekends to build their cases, and the extended postseason invitations that every program is chasing don't go to programs that peak in March. The next few weeks of results will carry more weight than anything that happened before spring break, and the postseason committees in all three divisions are watching closely. Every series dropped to a team you should beat, every road sweep you let get away — it all matters now in a way it simply didn't two months ago. What you'll also notice as you read through the breakdowns below is that the numbers are doing more of the heavy lifting in how these rankings are constructed. Run...
