Platter is a 6-0, 160 lb senior shortstop from Connecticut with a slender frame and body. He ran the 60 in 7.16 and threw 67 mph in infield drills from a side arm release point. Platter’s best tools are defensive. He has smooth actions and quick, sure hands that enable him to field balls cleanly and get rid of the ball quickly. His arm strength projects him to second base in the future. Defense is also something that Platter takes obvious pride in. We’ve rarely seen anyone work as hard shagging during batting practice as Platter did. He might have even exhausted himself a bit in the hot Florida sun with some of the diving catches he made, but it was fun to watch! At the plate, Platter has a wide stance and strong hitting fundamentals. He shows the ability to go to all fields and the ball comes off his bat pretty well. He could develop into a nice hitter with some gap to gap power if he adds some strength in the future. Good Northeast Follow. Platter also threw a couple of innings in relief, showing a 74 mph fastball and 63-66 mph curveball. Platter is an excellent student with his eye on some top academic insitutions.
