Dan Breazeale is a 2008 3B/P with a 6'0'', 182 lb. frame from Alexandria, LA, who attends Alexandria Senior HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Breazeale has a large frame with present strength. Defensively he moves well at the hot corner with solid body control. Shows arm strength on throws across the diamond, and he has enough arm to make the play deep at third base. At the plate he is a right handed hitter that hits from a slightly closed stance and uses a knee lift trigger. Breazeale keeps his hands back well, and has good bat speed through the hitting zone. Gets good leverage at the point of contact showing good power potential. Good instincts on the bases and can take the extra base. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with a short arm circle. He stays online to the plate, and throws with a good downhill plane. Breazeale has a quick arm that helped produce a fastball that topped out at 85 mph with late life. He also mixed in a downer curveball at 71 mph, and a solid change at 75 mph. Two-way prospect who is also an excellent student.

Breazeale is a 5-11, 185 lb sophomore third baseman from Louisiana. He has a solid athletic build and good present strength for his age. Breazeale ran the 60 in 7.07 and showed his speed both on the bases and in the field. He has smooth defensive actions with good range both back and forth and side to side. Breazeale has a quick, low release on his throws that helps him when he's charging the ball. Offensively, Breazeale was one of the better hitters at the showcase and it was easy to forget that he was a 2008 prospect. The ball comes off his bat hard to all fields and Breazeale has a consistent line drive swing that produces consistent contact. He has very impressive bat speed for a sophomore and had no problem handling the wood bat. Breazeale even had a rare inside the park home run when the centerfielder missed an attempt at a diving catch and the ball rolled to the centerfield wall. Breazeale also pitched a couple of innings, showing some arm strength with a 79-81 mph fastball and a 68 mph curveball. This is a very good young follow with solid athletic ability and a potent bat. He is also a very good student.
