Corey Birge is a 2005 left handed hitting outfielder from Clearwater, Florida, with a 6'1", 180 lb. frame. He has good all around athletic ability, and good balance and life to his actions. Birge’s frame has some room to add even more strength in the future. Birge has a good fundamental approach at the plate, with a balanced and easy stride and load, and a smooth line drive type of swing. Birge does cut off his swing out front, which costs him some power. Birge looks like a good defensive outfielder. He runs well underway and has a very good throwing arm. Birge also pitched a couple of innings, showing some arm strength with a 81 mph fastball, and a 68 mph curveball that showed good tightness. Could be a good lefty and 2-way guy in college.
