Corey Ashner is a lean 5'11/150 "05" MIF from Shawnee Mission, KS. He plays the game hard and shows some interesting tools that project nicely. He runs well and has a good arm. He's quick on his feet and shows defensive range. He best profiles at 2B at the highest levels. Corey can hit, he has a nice line drive swing and uses the field. He centers the ball very well and is very much a contact hitter. He's a good all around player who plays hard. Corey also is a very good student.

Corey Ashner -- Ashner is well known to us and to many of the college coaches around the Midwest already. He’s an extremely, fundamentally sound player who is going to squeeze every bit of baseball ability out of his given tools. Ashner has a very contact oriented, line drive approach at the plate with solid bat speed. He hit 10 out of 10 balls in fair territory during batting practice, most hard, and has the same type of contact ratio’s in games against live pitching. Ashner is an ideal #2 hitter at the next level. Defensively, Ashner has always played second base, where he has very quick hands and good foot work. His arm strength has improved at least a half grade over the last 6 months as he has gotten stronger and we think that he probably should move over to shortstop if possible. Ashner is a very good student as well. His tools play very well at the next level and he's only a junior. Good prospect.

Nice smooth "05" infielder with some arm strength and good actions. Good contact hitter who might really develop into a solid hitter with wood. Needs to get stronger and improve his 60 time slightly. He needs to be followed closely.
