Robert Orlan is a 2009 LHP/1B that attends Deep Run HS and resides in Glen Allen, VA with a 5'11", 165 lb. frame. Robert has a lean athletic build and was one of the better pitching prospects at the event. On the mound Robert has a short compact arm action with good arm speed. He shows a very sharp slider and curveball on the mound. Robert has an aggressive pitching style that really challenges hitters and you can tell he knows how to pitch. His mechanics are a little jerky at this time, but he is athletic enough to be able to smooth them out easy enough. At the plate Robert shows a nice approach with a short swing and some easy lift. He has good pop in his bat and shows nice projection at the plate when he gets a little bigger. At first base Robert has good balance and footwork around the bag. He is a little slow in his release making first base an ideal position for him.
