Matthew Skrenchuk is a 2008 C/OF with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Gambrills, MD who attends Arundel HS. He has a nice athletic build with some present strength and the chance for more. Skrenchuk threw 68 mph in drills with a best pop time of 2.15. His exchange is clean but he tends to stand straight up to throw, which slows down his release. He worked well behind the plate in games and received the ball cleanly. Offensively, Skrenchuk gets to his front side quickly in his swing and keeps his hands inside for opposite field contact. His bat head tended to drag through the zone and he was generally late to all pitches. His swing plane was good and when his timing was on he made solid opposite field contact. Skrenchuk is a good student.
