Matt has plus raw power at the plate and the ball jumps off his bat in a hurry. He gets good extension in his swing with loft and drives the ball to all fields. Matt Davidson is a 2009 3B/RHP with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Yucaipa, CA who attends Yucaipa. Davidson has a big frame with a very good body. He has a strong build and is athletic. Defensively, Davidson has good defensive actions and is a smooth defender. He has good hands and his feet work well to the baseball. He has good arm strength with carry and accurate throws. At the plate, Davidson starts with a straight stance and maintains good balance through his swing. He has good pitch recognition and has a very good swing. Davidson generates very good bat speed with very little effort. The ball really jumps off his bat and he has good raw power. Davidson has good power potential and can really hit. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. The ball comes out well and he has a very easy arm action. Davidson pitches with no effort and has very projectable velocity off the mound. He throws an 11/5 CB with good tight spin and throws 3 pitches for strikes. Davidson is a highest level prospect and a very good student.

Matt Davidson is a 2009 3B/1B/P with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from Yucaipa, CA who attends Yucaipa HS. He was selected as the #1 Top Prospect and rates as one of the top national caliber prospects in Southern California. He has a strong build on a projectable pro-type body and will continue to add strength and muscle. Davidson can be considered a two-way prospect for the college level with with his upper-80s fastball and a good 70 mph curveball that has a chance to be an 'out' quality pitch. It is his bat that makes Davidson a strong professional prospect. He has present day power and a swing that is alive. When he gets to extension Davidson can drive the ball out of any part of the yard. He has strong hands and a swing that produces leverage at the contact point. Defensively he handled 3rd base well, including showing the ability to make plays on the move. His arm also profiles well at 3rd base. He is an outstanding student, along with being one of the more physically gifted players players in the '09 class.
