James Linville is a 2007 RHP/OF from Trinity High School in New York, NY, with a 6'6'', 180 lb. frame. He is a tall and lean player with great projectability. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle. Linville has good arm speed and his fastball topped out at 83 mph with arm side run, but he projects to throw much harder in the future. He throws across his body and tends to cut off his extension, reducing the velocity on his fastball. As good as his fastball may become, his best pitch is his tight, late breaking curveball at 74 mph that he can throw for strikes. He also mixed in a 68 mph changeup with good arm speed. Linville has great upside on the mound. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a no stride approach and very low hands. Linville has raw hand quickness and bat speed, but swings with all upper body. He does have some raw power, especially to his pull side, and has upside at the plate. Linville is a must follow, and is a very good student as well.
