Michael Grieco is a 2008 C/OF with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Washington Twp, NJ who attends Westwood Regional HS. He has a good catcher's build, with a strong lower half and a looser upper half. Grieco threw 74 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.06. He shows good quickness on defense and will lower his throw times when he shortens his release. He's a willing blocker and worked hard in his receiving. Grieco's best tools were on offense, though. He hits from an open stance with a wrapped bat to start but has very strong and quick hands and works through it. He attacked pitches aggressively and showed bat speed with some lift in his swing. He blasted one ball off the left field wall and consistently hit the ball hard in BP and in games. He looks like a fine young hitter. If he can keep working hard on his defense, his bat will stand out even more at a premium position. Grieco is also a good student.
