Shawn Donovan is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Jupiter FL, who attends William T Dwyer HS. He has a big and strong well conditioned build. Donovan's delivery is low effort and easy to repeat and his arm comes through smoothly. His effortless mechanics enable him to throw strikes to spots with all his pitches. Donovan threw a 79-83 mph fastball with nice running action away from left handed hitters. He threw a 68 mph curveball from a standard 3/4's release point and a 71 mph slider from a lower release point to give hitters a different look. He also mixed in a 73 mph change up on occasion. Donovan showed advanced composure on the mound and an advanced idea of how to mix up his pitches and get hitters to swing the bat and get themselves out. He has all the ingredients in place except raw fastball velocity to be a successful pitcher at the next level. We've seen him at 85 mph in the past, so more arm strength is there. Donovan also showed some athletic ability in the way he fielded off the mound and with the way he swung the bat. He is a very good student.

Shawn Donovan is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Jupiter FL, who attends William T Dwyer HS. He has a big frame and a stocky build with good present strength. Donovan has a power pitcher's delivery and arm action, with strong lower half balance, a well paced delivery and a short, compact arm action in back. His overall mechanics resemble Roger Clemens'. Donovan's fastball is a consistent 83-85 mph from a 3/4's release point. He might be able to add a little more velocity with better extension out front. His best pitch is a 76 mph slider that had sharp sweeping break to it. Donovan would sometimes let up on his slider a bit and create a somewhat bigger curveball type of break at around 72 mph. We didn't see a change up. Donovan also showed some raw power at the plate. He hits from an open stance with an early front side release and could show even more power if he closed up and waited on the ball a bit. Donovan is also a good student.
