Sam Meyer is a 2009 1B with a 6'4'', 210 lb. frame from Los Altos, CA who attends St Francis. Meyer has a tall frame with a good build. He has some present strength with some room to fill. Defensively, Meyer has playable footwork and playable hands. He has long actions when he fields the ball and is a bit stiff around the bag at first base. At the plate, Meyer starts with a straight stance and is busy in the box. He generates some bat speed and has some present pop. Meyer has a contact hitters approach at the plate presently with some power potential in there. He feels for the ball presently which limits his bat speed and power. Meyer hits the ball to the opposite field best presently and he has some raw hitting mechanics. He has a chance to develop at the plate with a few adjustments. Meyer is a very good student.

Sam Meyer is a 2009 1B/3B with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Los Altos CA, who attends St Francis HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. He has a lean, strong build on a long body that still has room to fill out. With Meyer, it is all about his bat and his aggressive nature as a player. He just loves to play, which makes his tools and abilities very playable. Meyer has good hands for hitting and he simply swings the bat with the intent to hit the ball hard each and every swing. He stays short and direct to the ball. Meyer really digs in at the plate and creates some presence when in the box. He has good bat speed and both present and future power to all fields. He is a good hitter and stays balanced even with that aggressive swing. Fun to watch him hit. Defensively his hands and feet work. He stays low and moves through ground balls. He plays ground balls well and plays defense with good energy. Meyer is a strong student and has a bright future with the bat, at the college level and someday beyond.

Sam Meyer is a 2009 1B/P/3B from St. Francis HS, residing in Los Altos, CA, with a 6'0" 175 lb. frame. He has an average pitcher's body and is well-proportioned. His frame looks like it will hold more size and strength in the future. On offense Meyer hits from a wide stance and is a slasher with a line drive swing. He has good bat speed and accelerates through contact. He is aggressive, fires his hands well and has an overall good approach for such a young hitter. His bat should play in the future. On defense he has good hands though his feet are a bit slow and not terribly sure. On the mound he pitches from an over the top slot and showed some pitchability. Not much arm strength at this point, his 73-74 mph FB had a little arm side movement. He maintained good arm speed with his change-up which was his best pitch. Follow this young player because his hands are interesting as a hitter.
