He loves to play the game and he is fun to watch. Defensively he showed natural fielding actions during the showcase game. He moves his feet well with body control, and has outstanding arm strength on his throws across the diamond. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with bat speed through the hitting zone. He is a line drive contact hitter who makes consistent, solid contact. Quinones tracks pitches well showing improved strike zone awareness. Fun player to watch with big upside.

Raymond Quinones is a 2007 MIF/OF with a 6'0'', 169 lb. frame from New York NY, who attends George Washington HS. He has a lean, wiry build with some hidden strength. Quinones' best defensive tool is his raw arm strength. He tends to lay back on the ball, relying on his arm to get outs, and will have to learn to charge the ball better at the next level. This is more a matter of fundamentals than tools, Quinones has the athletic quickness and hands to do it. It will be interesting to see at which infield position Quinones ends up at, you could picture him at any of the three in the future. Offensively, Quinones has very good bat speed from a busy, high energy approach. He is an aggressive swinger who is attacking the ball and attempting to drive it to all fields. His aggressiveness sometimes leads to a break down in hitting fundamentals and his pulling off the ball, but he has high ceiling ability with theh bat. Quinones also took a turn on the mound. His pitching fundamentals are raw but he has a good, loose arm. His fastball topped out at 84 mph and he threw a solid curveball at 69 mph with 2--plane break to it. Quinones is a good student who has signed with UNC-Greensboro.

Raymond Quinones is a 2007 right hand hitting middle infielder from George Washington HS, residing in New York, NY. He has a wiry, lithely build on his 5'11" 168 lb. frame. Quinones is a scrapper type player who clearly enjoys playing the game. He was ranked #100 among PG National Top 100 position players not only because his abilities are good, but because he is one player that always seemed to stand out when given the opportunity. Some players sit back and wait for the game, not Quinones, he makes things happen. At the plate he showed himself to be an aggressive hitter, a slashing, line drive contact hitter. He does not have much power but hits the ball hard. Quinones is short to the ball and in the games he showed a very quick bat. His hands really work and he looks like the tye of hitter that would be excellent in the two-hole, helping make an entire offense go. His flat swing plane and good extension and knack for finding the barrel are going to result in a lot of doubles and in the future he will surprise the defense on occasion by going over the outfielders heads. It was on defense that Quinones really stood out. He loves to play defense and does so with high energy, but yet with control. He slings the ball from a low slot, sort of like Nomar Garciaparra and absolutely makes the runner get down when he is turning the double play. He showed the ability to get off strong throws from a variety of body angles and can throw from different slots. Quinones has plus hands and around the bag he is fun to watch. He seems like the kind of player that would be fun to play on a team with. At second base he is a plus defensive player. Not a great athlete in terms of raw athleticism, Quinones ran 4.73 home/1st with a 7.26 60. He is a college player and will have to outperform more tooled players to earn his shot at pro ball in the future.

Raymond Quinones is a 5'11" 164 pound 2007 middle infielder and outfielder from George Washington High School in New York City, New York who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a young athletic body with room for more strength. Raymond took one of the best batting practice's at the event. He has an excellent swing with good bat speed and good extension. He attacks the ball and stays on it a long time. He turns on the ball very well on the inside part of the plate and the ball jumps off his bat and he had a ball register off his bat at 90 mph. He has gap to gap line drive power that will continue to improve. Quinones has a very strong arm as well. He threw 84 mph across the infield during the workout where he also ran a 7.33 60. He has quick hands and very good body control. His actions are very smooth and he showed that they don’t change during the game either. Raymond is a good looking young prospect who is also a very good student.
