Nick Thode is a 2007 C/1B/3B from Walt Whitman HS in Huntington Station, NY with a 6'0", 200 lb. frame. Nick has a thick athletic build and was one of the top prospects at the showcase. At the plate Nick was very strong and looked like a weight lifter. He hits from a spread stance with a big load and showed great extension in his swing. He shows plus raw power and the ability to drive the ball to any part of the park. The ball really jumps with authority off his bat and he has the potential to big a big power hitter at the highest college level. Behind the plate Nick was equally impressive. He showed very good arm strength (79) and a good pop time. (1.98) Nick was very impressive at the showcase and looks to be a highest-level college prospect.
